April 10, 201214 yr What's your favorite baseball movie? I personally don't have one favorite. I like "The Babe", "Major League", "Major League II", "Rookie of the Year" and "The Sandlot" (I guess that's considered a baseball movie). What's yours?
April 11, 201214 yr 1a. Field of Dreams 1b. Bull Durham Hard to rank because I absolutely love The Sandlot, A League of Their Own and The Natural.
April 11, 201214 yr 61*. Even for just an HBO movie, it was one of the most well done and best movies I've ever seen. It's a rare movie where I really felt like I was watching Roger Maris and Mickey Mantle.
April 12, 201214 yr Seeing as all my favorites were already mentioned, I'm just going to add in For the Love of the Game because I also love that one!
April 12, 201214 yr The Sandlot. Followed by Field of Dreams and Moneyball. The best baseball movies aren't actually about baseball, I guess.
April 12, 201214 yr Sandlot is a great pick. I also like The Natural for some reason. Not a great movie - it's hokey and unapologetically sentimental but just always makes me want to watch baseball.
April 12, 201214 yr Love Bull Durham and The Sandlot and I love laughing at Angels in the Outfield and Field of Dreams.
April 16, 201214 yr I really dislike Rookie of the Year ... I realize it's a 12 year old playing Major League Baseball as a pitcher due to a freak surgery result, but the acting of the kid was so ... eh. So many high-pitched reactions. "Rowengartner, go warm up!" "Me? ... Warm up?" "Rowengartner, you're in!" " ... I'm in?" Yes, you warmed up, are you seriously still surprised you're coming in? And then the Cubs get to the playoffs because of this kid pitching [as a closer or starter? IDK, I couldn't really tell what exactly he did], and then he slips on a baseball, falls on his arm, and suddenly the surgery is negated, so he does stupid tricks [one of which was legally a balk, I believe] to get the guys out ... minus the Floater, I could see that one actually working. Then the Cubs win the World Series without him, even though the movie makes him out to be the only reason they got there. Meh, that's my rant about that movie. Field of Dreams, The Rookie, The Benchwarmers if it counts lol. 61*, Mr. Baseball, Major League 1 and 2, and Mickey. I also liked Little Big League.
April 16, 201214 yr But all those other movies were totally realistic. You suck. I wasn't exactly going for realism there. I was going against the kids acting. Besides, The Rookie actually happened, 61* was based on 1961, Mr. Baseball scenarios could, and I'm sure does, happen, and the scenarios from Mickey could definitely happen.
April 16, 201214 yr You named 9 movies, and 2 actually happened. Bravo! Of course, the Cubs could never win the World Series, so you have a point there. And that kid was adorable, goddamnit! And then he was in American Pie with a young Tara Reid....
April 17, 201214 yr I still never was going for realism. I think you're trying to base your argument too much around that. I didn't like the movie, mostly because of the kid's acting and because of the whole "we get to the playoffs cause of him then win the World Series without him."

And I think he was more nervous then shocked he was going into the game.
