July 4, 201213 yr LOL. Some of you are acting like we traded Stanton! Funny stuff! Carlos Lee is clearly an upgrade to Gaby. Gaby wasn't D-lee over there. Also, quick! Name another power threat in the Astros lineup? And it's no secret, Dominguez isn't gonna hit.
July 4, 201213 yr Carlos Lee won't put this team over the top. At the same time, I don't think we'll miss Matt Dominguez.
July 4, 201213 yr While I don't care much for this trade the Marlins really didn't give up too much to get Lee. Dominguez looks like he'll develop defensively, but won't contribute much with his bat, as for Rasmussen he didn't overly impress me at Jupiter and was in his second season there before his recent promotion. Kind of reminds me of the Urbina trade in giving up Adrian Gonzalez and some other minor leaguers, didn't like that one much either but if it ends in a Championship it will be all good.
July 4, 201213 yr Houston is covering all but the pro-rated minimum. Admin, I'm curious what do you think of this move? Seriously.
July 4, 201213 yr Houston is covering all but the pro-rated minimum. Admin, I'm curious what do you think of this move? Seriously. It's not a great trade or an awful one, I think it was worth a shot.
July 4, 201213 yr They're clearly not done. Nobody saying el Caballo puts us over the top. Let them finish. There's certainly more to come.
July 4, 201213 yr They're clearly not done. Nobody saying el Caballo puts us over the top. Let them finish. There's certainly more to come. There's nothing the Marlins can do to fix the bullpen from outside. There's too much suck to overcome.
July 4, 201213 yr They're clearly not done. Nobody saying el Caballo puts us over the top. Let them finish. There's certainly more to come. They probably are done. Who the hell are we going to trade now? Our farm system is a kiddy pool.
July 4, 201213 yr Old Man Lee .285 > Gaby .192... What is really sad is we just gave away our #4 and #7 prospects and they have no value - speaks highly of the farm system don't it? The alternative to Lee isn't necessarily Gaby at first. ^
July 4, 201213 yr I leave to buy an avocado and this happens?? Seriously though Dominguez and Rasmussen have practically no value anymore. And at least the Astros are still paying Lee. It's not an awful trade, just a confusing one.
July 4, 201213 yr Our offensive savior. People in the cleavlander better be ready to stand up cause Lee's gonna hit a bunch a deep fly outs over there. Those fly balls may have won us a few games this year. Now gaby can't pop up with runner at third and 1 out.

July 4, 201213 yr Actually, I'm not bitching. I'm meh about this trade. I'm more concerned right now with Stanton. Has he been announced out of the ASG as The Penguino says?

July 4, 201213 yr I've always liked Lee. Hopefully this wakes everyone up. That's what a trade can do even if he's not the Lee he once was. It can be a spark to the entire team to see the FO trying to help them out. By the way, as far as his production goes -- it's important that he wasn't surrounded by much offensive talent in Houston. Put him in our lineup, and who knows what may happen? That's why I said it's worth a shot. I don't think we really gave up much and he could be useful.
July 4, 201213 yr I'm more concerned right now with Stanton. Has he been announced out of the ASG as The Penguino says? Not officially. Thanks Admin. I'd be sorta' surprised to NOT see him in the lineup against the Cards. They say the MRI results are pending, but if there was any doubt on this test, which can be read immediately, then Stanton wouldn't have been running on the knee today with the rest of the team. im optimistic o

Pretty much this. We lack trade pieces to entice other teams, and the trade market was barron of the kind of player we really need, so Carlos Lee pretty much became the best option if we wanted to do a small buy, which this really is.
July 4, 201213 yr The time may be thinking Stanton may be missing time. If he does miss a lot fo time or any, Justin R, my new fav player, moves to RF? When is this team gonna deal Cousins or Petersen?
July 4, 201213 yr They're clearly not done. Nobody saying el Caballo puts us over the top. Let them finish. There's certainly more to come. They probably are done. Who the hell are we going to trade now? Our farm system is a kiddy pool. Nobody trades for a half year of Carlos Lee and says "Go getem boys! ". He's an upgrade and there's clearly more to come. We lack trade pieces in the minors only.
July 4, 201213 yr Also, how much value would Petersen have? Would this team DARE trade Justin R? I mean if they do, Cousins or Petersen is safe.
July 4, 201213 yr I don't think that anyone is pretending that Dominguez will be sorely missed. However, as a trade piece I think he would have been better used for relief help rather than Lee. I expect Lee to be a ~.700 OPS bat and a terrible glove. That might be marginally better than Gaby's worth, but Gaby doesn't necessarily need to be in the picture even without Lee. Gaby sucking pretty much means that you move Morrison to first and don't look back. At least that's what it should have meant.
