I really do not want to see JJ go... We know what we have, and his potential. With a below avg season like he is having, we can sign him to an extension that would be less than if he had a dominating/great year. And we might not be able to sign a pitcher of his potential for the same $$$ this offseason.

Angels are also in on JJ.

 

CJ Cron looks pretty intriguing but he's a while away. With Trout graduating, I don't think they have the prospect depth to get a deal done for him by themselves.

Johnson must not be traded but nolasco and his 11.5 million could not leave fast enough. Said it forever that the money should have gone to anibal.

peter gammons just tweeted that the marlins were saying one of anibal or JJ before the deal, so it look like he is staying for now. good.

For all the critism our FO has taken lately, I like what they are doing right now. H2R needs a change of scenery and we could get a decent group of young talent for him. Turner will be the real deal and we have a couple catchers in the minors that could be MLB caliber in 2 years.

After the Hanley trade, I say do the JJ to Tex trade and insist Mike Olt as a starting point. Maybe he would be ready to compete for the job in the Spring.

If Hamels signs with Philly I bet we could could get a ton for jj. I really don't want to see him go though.

eek. I really wanted to hang on to JJ... but now with the hole at 3b I wonder if they almost have to.

 

Most of the young pitching prospects in the system (Fernandez, etc) wouldn't be ready 'til 2014 so the rotation will probably be a mess next season. Keeping JJ and Mark at the top would solidify things at least....

We won't get Profar. We'd be extremely lucky to get Olt and Perez, and we'd probably have to throw in more pieces or cash to get both.

I think dealing Josh Johnson is a mistake, you're selling low on a guy who when healthy could command a premium return. He's an example of a guy it would make sense to keep in your pocket until next year.

If we deal JJ we need an arm to replace him with. Olt fills a need at 3rd and Perez is a good lefty.

You trade Josh Johnson only if you're able to dump Heath Bell's money along with him. Otherwise, it would be foolish.

 

But this is a foolish organization. So I fully expect JJ to go for two no names prospects.
