J Upton to ATL

Featured Replies

Brandon Drury also going to Arizona.

From the initial reactions I've seen, a lot of Braves fans are upset about losing Prado. Chris Johnson will slide into 3B, but that's a big downgrade.

Also, expect the Braves to strikeout a lot this season. Lots of HRs though might make up for it.

That outfield sure is dirty... Offensively and defensively. The Braves should give Washington a strong run for first place...

Minus Freddie Freeman, of course.

And Simmons is a very good defensive SS.

Johnson is below average defensively and seems to be OK offensively, so their infield won't be atrocious.

I'm not impressed by this for the Braves. Were they caught up in trying to unite the Uptons or do they truly believe this is an upgrade?

After really looking over the stats of all the players going to Arizona, Atlanta really did not give up much after Prado. Delgado is about an average-above average pitcher, Spruill a little worse than Delgado, Ahmed is nothing special albeit he has range and speed, and Drury is ... well, he had a really good season in rookie ball in 2011, but struggled in A ball in 2012. Nothing to write home about on defense with him, either.

Happy to see the Upton brothers united.

Fun fact: The Braves now own 3 of the 5 current MLB position players whose last name begins with 'U'.

I've always said that I felt Justin Upton was overrated. He's a good player, but I don't see superstar in him on a consistent basis.

Having said that, I don't understand why the D-Backs felt like they HAD to trade Justin Upton with three years left on his deal. The Mariners deal would've made sense on a prospect potential basis, but this one seems a bit off.

Upton/Upton/Heyward is a nice outfield, especially if both Upton brothers start playing like they are capable of.

Except that J. Upton didnt want to go there and exercised his no trade clause to them. The Dbacks are morons for even asking him if he wanted to go there considering they were one of 4 teams he said, I'm not going to.

I feel bad for the Mariners. No love from the big FA's or stars.

I'm sure players feel the same way about us. In fact, I know some do from comments made after the firesale.
