Starting rotation set

Featured Replies

There's definitely no star power in this rotation, but there are definitely a few guys who have a lot of upside. Namely Eovaldi and Alvarez. But LeBlanc and Slowey could put up respectable numbers as well.

And we already know what we're getting with Ricky. 4 tremendous outings. 4 horrendous outings. Then a bunch of average ones.

Oh Lawd

Each game he starts we ask the question: Is it Good Ricky or Bad Ricky tonight?

Wow. A guy that we got for John Baker is our number 3.

Also, Kotchman, Qualls, and for some reason which I do not understand, Kearns have made the team.

Really do not get how they could send Kouzmanoff down the way he hit.

lol ouch. Why Slowey over Sanabia besides his redmond connection? 13 good innings in ST doesn't really impress me much.

Sanabia wasn't particularly good this spring... I'm fine with Slowey right now.

that is the worst rotation in the majors.

WrongI'm sure someone has a worse rotation... But who? The Astros? Mets?

Nolasco, Eovaldi, LeBlanc, Alvarez, Slowey

Wake me when it's Fernandez, Turner, Nicolino, Heaney and Alvarez

It's looking more and more like Eovaldi > Turner.... Maybe Eovaldi will become a hell of a closer instead, but between he and Turner the best stuff definitely belongs to Nathan...

I actually envision Eo going into a key role in the pen if Turner pans out as a starter

The Rockies come to mind. Twins?

A healthy Mets rotation is better than ours on paper, imo.

At least our infield defense will be good. Hopefully that translates to lowering some ERA's.

With this rotation, hopefully our outfield defense is good. Leblanc and Slowey allow lots of flyballs.

I will be more than mildly suprised if Turner is not back up with the team by early May. Hopefully he'll get things straightened out with a couple of starts in New Orleans. I do not mind someone like Slowey as our #5 starter. He was pretty damn good with the Twins and if healthy, he will keep our bullpen from being too overworked. We pretty much know what we're getting from Ricky.

Turner's better than Eovaldi. At some point Eovaldi is likely to be sent to the pen, possibly a long term long reliever. Turner's got stuff to be a good #3 starter.

Right now, that rotation is one of the worst three rotations in baseball (Let's not ignore the fact that our #4 starter to start last season is our opening day starter). Combine that with our bottom five starting lineup (but hey, we got a top 15 defense!!!!), and this season might be more than a bit depressing...or comical.

Like somebody in this thread already stated, when our 1-2-3 is Fernandez/Turner/Heaney, which should be in 2014, then it's gonna be interesting to watch.

The highlight of our season will be when Jose Fernandez gets called up. That guy is Livan Hernandez reincarnated.

a) Eovaldi is not a "long-term long reliever." What does that even mean? There's no such thing.

b) That Jose Fernandez/Livan Hernandez comparison is bad.

The best part of your post here is how you hate the rotation, yet you talk about Livan Hernandez as though he's not like the guys in our rotation.

If Jose Fernandez is the next Livan Hernandez, he's going to be one massive disappointment.
