December 11, 201411 yr I'll gladly take Latos, he has some nice upside, but not at the price of a pitcher who is almost as good as he is and under more years of control.
December 11, 201411 yr If Marlins get Latos and Tigers get Cueto? Then I think Reds tear it down and use the money to resign other players or make a play for it next year. I think the Cub moves did them in.
December 11, 201411 yr Eovaldi is nowhere near as good as Latos to whoever said that. Word, that is complete BS. Latos > Eovaldi.
December 11, 201411 yr What would the rotation be if, in fact, we get Latos? Alvarez Haren Latos Cossart Koehler

December 11, 201411 yr Latos Alvarez Cosart Haren Koehler followed by Fernadez Latos Alvarez Cosart Koehler Is a fantastic rotation. Get Morneau or Morse and some bench bats and we look really good.
December 11, 201411 yr Latos's velocity was an issue last year, but hopefully that was just from the injury recovery. But if they don't resign him, then trading for him makes 0 sense
December 11, 201411 yr Wasn't there some talk about us going after Chapman? Lets just grab him while we are at it all or nothing boys...
December 11, 201411 yr For reference: Nathan Eovaldi: 2014 WAR: 3.0, 2015 Projected: 1.4 Mat Latos: 2014: 1.5, 2015 Projected: 1.2 Man Steamer is really down on Latos. Wonder what ZiPs projects him at
December 11, 201411 yr I really don't mind giving up Nicolino or Eovaldi for Latos. I think that Nicolino isn't that good, and I've also given up on the idea of Eovaldi becoming anything special. Latos declining peripherals are a bit concerning, but he still had success pitching half of his games in a hitter's ballpark. Eovaldi kinda stinks. Fastball/slider guy. Put a bunch of lefties in the lineup against him and he struggles.
December 11, 201411 yr Tearing down a great rotation is a terrible way to try and "make a play for next year" IMO. They cant resign them all. Plus Votto's contract started kicking in and the Bailey contact may be an issue if he doesnt start performing. Not including the money they still owe to Brandon Phillips.
December 11, 201411 yr Lol @ the people on MLBTR saying the Reds will get Yelich or Ozuna back. If the reds pay Latos salary I bet they would
December 11, 201411 yr Lol @ the people on MLBTR saying the Reds will get Yelich or Ozuna back. If that happens we might as well just give up.. They can't be that dumb to think we would part with a 1/3 of the best outfield in baseball
December 11, 201411 yr If that happens we might as well just give up.. They can't be that dumb to think we would part with a 1/3 of the best outfield in baseball If we give them Yelich, we better be getting Chapman, as well. And Todd Frazier I guess. IDK.

I tend to give Latos the benefit of the doubt since he was coming off a pretty serious injury and not sure he was ever totally healthy last year.
December 11, 201411 yr If we give them Yelich, we better be getting Chapman, as well. And Todd Frazier I guess. IDK. I think that for Latos + Chapman, I'd give them Eovaldi + Nicolino + Disco or something like that.
