January 5, 201610 yr GOod thing I gave up on this clowns already so I wanna see them get embarrassed on a nightly basic. Maybe that way the comissioner grows a pair and do something about the chit. A simple no more revenue sharing would do the trick

January 5, 201610 yr Has a team ever won the World Series before with 6 number 5s? Let's ask David Samson.

January 6, 201610 yr Author My prediction : 1 year/7M w/o option. Lol if they gave him more than Henderson Alvarez...
January 6, 201610 yr Those of you predicting Jackson's deal with the Marlins, it will be $507,500 in 2016. The Cubs still have him under contract so the Marlins will only pay him the Major League minimum as long as it is only a one year deal.

This which is why I'm concerned its to be a SP since the money would have been the same anywhere on a 1-year deal.
January 6, 201610 yr I highly doubt they would gaurentee him a starting job regardless of how he performs. Why would anyone do that for a guy you are paying the minimum? Did they offer him a legit shot to start? Certainly...but he's still going to have to earn the job. I have no issue with that, so long as they continue to add another starter...
January 6, 201610 yr I highly doubt they would gaurentee him a starting job regardless of how he performs. Why would anyone do that for a guy you are paying the minimum? Because anyone could offer the same deal money wise but they could offer him something others wouldn't (chance at being a SP). I doubt they guaranteed him anything but they likely told him he'd get a shot at it in ST and other teams may not have made that offer. These are all guesses.

Either that or there's a second year on the contract or maybe an option of some kind.
January 6, 201610 yr Either that or there's a second year on the contract or maybe an option of some kind. Or maybe it's nothing but signing with one of the very few that showed interest. Tax free state, hispanic culture and well it's Miami, so the city sells itself.

He probably caught a look at the state of the Marlins' current rotation and figured he had a good chance. Is there a worse rotation in MLB right now?
January 6, 201610 yr In the end though the real winner is tommy Hutton. He doesn't have to stick around for Edwin Jackson and Mathis. But we do.
January 6, 201610 yr League minimum guys. Its low risk all the way. He either performs as an SP or hits the bullpen. We cant lose in this deal.
January 6, 201610 yr League minimum guys. Its low risk all the way. He either performs as an SP or hits the bullpen. We cant lose in this deal. The loss is if they don't sign another SP because "Edwin will take it". He should be signed as a reliever and that's it and they should be hunting for 2 arms for the rotation at least.

He should be signed as a reliever and that's it and they should be hunting for 2 arms for the rotation at least. THIS. this. This! From what I've heard they are at least looking for more SP arms... the thing is the way the offseason has gone they might not get one, if that, and then Edwin Jackson is virtually guaranteed a rotation spot.

I'm actually more worried that they're looking for more SPs. It's essentially a guarantee that they won't get any more because they fail in everything they try to do
