Can the team contend for a playoff spot?

Isn't Upton looking for a one-year deal now? Seems right up the Marlins' alley.

You could sign Upton and then trade Ozuna for another SP.

Won't happen, but it's an interesting thought.

I'm not a big supporter of Fister or anything, but I don't think he's as shitty as you make him out to be.

Yeah he was actually a pretty good pitcher up until last year.

I would have no problem with adding him on a one-year deal in hopes for a bounceback season.

Depends where you put the fist.

I have no problem with Fister as a number 5 which is all he is right now. My huge gripe with Fister is I was under the assumption he'd be the marlins only SP signing and our de facto #2. That clearly isn't the case. If they can get a deal on him and Benedict really thinks there's something there, sure sign him up as our #5.

With that, his 2015 peripherals are pretty gruesome from velocity, to swgstrk to gb rate to ks. It's extremely likely that 2015 Fister is who he is going forward. There's nothing in his stats that say 2015 was fluke and everything that says this is what production he'll give

HAHAHAHA HOLY SHIT YOU JUST MADE UP A STAT THAT CAN'T BE REAL FUCK YOU POLLY STUPID IS THAT SWAG STEAK OR SWAG STREAK LIKE HOW LONG CAN HE STAY SWAG WHILE COOKING STEAK

I think Nicolino and Conley, Conley in particular, is being highly overlooked.  Ive always been a fan of his coming up through the system and think that the one bad injury plagued year is making you underrate him and his potential.

I don't see this team being competitive. There's still a real lack of quality starters. I mean yes, if Jose and Chen are healthy all year it will be a plus, but starters 3-5 are not exactly scaring anyone.

I'm also not sold on the offense. We can't really predict what Bour will do this year.

This teams problem on offense isn't so much adding players as it is players playing up to their potential and being who they were expected to be. And I really wish with the signing of Edwin Jackson as a long relief guy and all the other medicore SPs we have, that Brad Hand would just be traded or released.

We need a 3B that's going to get us a .800-.850 OPS, not .700 and we need another top starting pitcher to slide behind Fernandez, same caliber type pitcher as Chen.

So where does the sentiment rest here on Gallardo? He seems like he might one of the top 3 sp left on the market.

Prado was worth 3.1 WAR last year. He did a fine job and it was .732 OPS (picked it up huge in 2nd half.. w .783) with a very nice OBP

What needs to happen:

- Sign/Trade for #3 SP

- Gordon stays healthy and puts up similar numbers to 2015

- Stanton plays 150 games at least and rakes

- Hech continues to improve, even slightly. Just no decline

- Prado plays to his career averages

- Bour and Ozuna hit 20-25 HR each

- Yelich has OPS of 800+

- Jose performs at Cy Young level

- Mattingly doesn't get fired after a 5 game losing streak
