April 17, 201610 yr okay, progress. Completely agree. A change like this can take some pressure off and pick up the rest of the staff...as long as he does what he was doing in the minors.
April 17, 201610 yr It's funny because, statistically speaking, despite the fact that this bullpen is really bad and has had some bad games, it really hasn't been the problem. 9 games in, the SP has been much worse. I do think the SP has more upside though.

April 17, 201610 yr So much for staying the course with the bullpen. Sent from my SM-G900T using MarlinsBaseball.com mobile app

April 17, 201610 yr Honestly amazing how some of these guys manage to get themselves on major league rosters.
April 17, 201610 yr Honestly amazing how some of these guys manage to get themselves on major league rosters. if you are talking about Barraclough, I wouldn't be quick to judge. he did real well last year. the McGowan thing makes sense, especially after seeing his age (34) so he was going to be short term anyway.

Koehler and Cosart are bad but Jose's, Chen's, and Conley's peripheral stats are fantastic so far. Relivers ERA: 3.38 FIP: 4.53 xFIP: 5.18. 26th in the majors in fWAR. Brewslow is the only one with a xFIP under 4, and he's at 3.98 lolol So yeah, from a peripheral standpoint, the starters have been above average and the relievers have been well below. The results have shown the opposite, but that's doubtful to continue
April 17, 201610 yr 9 games too late for Barraclough. Now need Ege for Narveson and Wittgren or Ellington for Breslow and I'll be content with the bullpen for now.
April 17, 201610 yr dunno why this wasn't the case at the start of the season. The rotation isn't a disaster, Cosart may be pitching himself out of a job and Koehler is a whatever #5 but Jose-Chen-Conley are fine. Maybe if some callups can settle the pen they slot Phelps back into the rotation or give Nic a try... no great options.

I'm more concerned about Morris than Breslow at this point. We're talking a large drop in velocity. I'm "hoping" he's injured because at least then maybe he can bounce back once he's healthy
