May 17, 201610 yr The #Braves have fired manager Fredi Gonzalez. — David O'Brien (@DOBrienAJC) 2016년 5월 17일 Finally it happened.
May 17, 201610 yr lmao I've never understood the firing of managers for the sake of firing managers. I mean, he's not Bobby Cox, but this team isn't bad because of Gonzalez. Stupid
May 17, 201610 yr Author Brian Snitker has been AAA Gwinnett Braves manager. Now will step in to replace Fredi Gonzalez #Braves — Joel Sherman (@Joelsherman1) 2016년 5월 17일 Can confirm @DOBrienAJC Gonzalez fired by #Braves. I heard Brian Snitiker is the interim replacement. — Joel Sherman (@Joelsherman1) 2016년 5월 17일
May 17, 201610 yr lol just like with the marlins and Redmond. What the hell makes you think that during a time as tumultuous as a rebuild, a minor league manager is going to be any better. Now apart from roster issues, you have the front office trying to build a yes man, while the manager is fielding questions from both the media and himself about what kind of effect he can possibly have to "turn this organization around", and whether or not he's cut out for the job. Again, stupid!
May 17, 201610 yr Author It's a typical move to cover their own terrible faults by GM and FO. No manager can overcome this situation. Everybody knows, in this industry.
May 17, 201610 yr John Hart has turned the Braves into the 76ers of MLB. Hell of a job in turning that team into a dumpster fire. Hopefully the Marlins don't embarrass themselves in Atlanta like they did at home.
May 17, 201610 yr I remember when he was fired here and everybody in the Braves pissed on the Marlins for firing him saying they had no reason to do so (even though they did). Now, they fire him for the same they complained about. Hilarious. The most hypocritical franchise by far. Where's Bobby cox to call them out on such a bad firing? Truth be told, Fredi had no business being a manager. Sent from my SM-G900T using MarlinsBaseball.com mobile app
May 17, 201610 yr There was no reason to fire Fredi because there was no way this Braves team was going to win games. They may very well end up as the worst offensive team in the modern era. They are legendarily awful. That being said, Fredi is a terrible manager and the team may want to rebuild with the guy they plan on having in the dugout when the team starts to get good.

Is Snitker the guy they want in the dugout though or a stopgap ala Dan Jennings?

May 17, 201610 yr Is Snitker the guy they want in the dugout though or a stopgap ala Dan Jennings? Definitely a stopgap. I just read that Mark DeRosa might be the guy they want. WILL SOMEONE JUST HIRE DAVID ECKSTEIN ALREADY? #GRIT
May 17, 201610 yr Is Snitker the guy they want in the dugout though or a stopgap ala Dan Jennings? So who's their David Samson ?
May 17, 201610 yr The only way this is a just firing is if there was a clubhouse problem such as when Bo Porter was fired from Houston, besides that this wasn't Fredi's fault. And I have to believe this new guy is a stopgap because this always happens, the cycle is the same. Team starts a rebuild (or some kind of decent into frequent losing) and eventually plays even worse than expected and the manager is scapegoated and fired even if it was a successful guy in the past, then a stopgap comes in to kinda finish the rebuild, and then when they're ready to compete is when the third manager, the real guy comes in.
May 17, 201610 yr Ken Rosenthal with the "now that Fredi is fired, no Hispanic managers and only 2 managers are minorities" ugh I love Rosenthal but give it a rest. Stop bringing up race. If the 30 best managers in the world are all white then so be it. If they were all minorities then great too but we shouldn't be counting managers by their race.

They're probably going to be really good in a couple years.

May 17, 201610 yr I'm indifferent about this either way. I never was a fan of Fredi Gonzalez. I've never been a fan of that whole Braves schtick, win a bunch of regular season games, and don't do anything in the playoffs, that's why I thought Cox was overrated. Fredi followed that type of managerial style and Cox, like a religion. He tried to do it here with the Marlins, glad it didn't work out.

The Rooney Rule or whatever the baseball equivalent is called, is more offensive to "minorities" by being in existence in my opinion.
May 17, 201610 yr he swept the Marlins starting the season in 15 and 16 this is just too much. didn't he got an extension recently?
