DEMOTE NICOLINO

BENCH HECHAVARRIA

IN ALL CAPS

Hech has been an extremely bad base runner throughout his entire career. Maybe he wasn't being lazy, just bad? Either way, Rojas at SS on Friday, Hech can try to hit the bench. He'll probably pop it up.

Also, Nicolino's new nickname should either be "Batting Practice" or "Pitching Machine." Opponents must love seeing Nicolino on the schedule because you know you're getting something to hit. Maybe Stanton just needs to face him for an at bat or two.

Out lefty starters have collapsed in a heap. Unless one or two of them turn it around and quick, this team is kaput.

Yeah Nic is struggling. Not a huge surprise. So lets see, probably could've gotten Thor from the Jays instead, and then could've kept Heaney instead of him for the Gordon trade. Ugh.

Nicolino's last 8 games

0-4, 6.18era

39.1ip 56h 27er 8bb 25k opp. avg .475

To make matters even worse besides sending out a such an ineffective piece of shit of a pitcher, the Nationals blew the save in the 9th, then the Cubs blew it in the bottom of the 9th, and then the Cubs blew the save again in the bottom of the 12th.

You know when you remember to check a score on your phone praying that the numbers changing doesn't reveal something horrible. Well I knew the Cubs had one out and went to check the score. The box had dropped down because the game was now complete and I scroll down and see 5-4 Final/12 and a part of me died.

That wasn't bad that was lazy, he clearly gave up. He was headed towards right field.

Wasn't watching, what did hech do that was so bad?Sent from my SM-G900T using MarlinsBaseball.com mobile app

He was on first when Stanton hit a ball to third and the third baseman threw to second but he threw wide and pulled the second baseman off the base. Hech would have been safe if he had been running hard, or even running correctly at all, but when he saw the throw coming to second he assumed it was a routine out and he slowed down and even started turning towards right field, which allowed the second baseman plenty of time to get back to the base and get Hech out.

Hech should be fined for that. In the league 3 years, already. And being an infielder himself, that's especially unacceptable.

Hech play reminiscent of when he left a infield fly ball drop for no reason.

Real problem is nicolino though. Has no business in MLB whatsoever. He's a command pitcher with no command who had a good era in milb because he picked at corners. Doesn't work in the majors.

As said way too many times before, the starting pitching is a borderline diaster with a complete and utter lack of depth

Hech had a Hanley moment

I'm totally amazed that you actually think what the Nationals do is relevant.

The Marlins just went 4-5 against the Twins, DBacks and Padres and you're watching Nationals results.

I don't even know what this means. Are you seriously trying to say that pitchers that pitch on the corners don't succeed in the MLB?

Maybe he thought second base is in right field? He's really, really bad at baseball when he's not at shortstop.

Didn't we have a 3-1 lead lol??

So who takes his spot ?

I think that's what Greg Maddux do.

Every runner do that when they know self was 99% out,he was just bad luck that 1% happened.

No, he is saying if you don't have any command of your pitches and that is what you rely on then it doesn't work in the MLB. He's absolutely right Nicolino can walk 2-3 guys in a row and then give up a parade of hits. He doesn't have swing miss stuff and has to constantly be on to succeed.

I think that's what Greg Maddux do.

Greg Maddux had incredible control. Him and Glavine were known for hitting the corners consistently and even widening them at times. Even for a guy that didn't throw so hard his strike out numbers were always pretty good.

I stopped watching after they got the lead 3-1. We missed a couple of opportunities. I really thought they were going to have a big inning in the first. After getting 3 straight hits. Bummer.

What Hech did is ridiculous.

I'm saying and have said this before the k zone in mlb is notoriously smaller than milb. When your stuff sucks like nicolino you survive by picking at corners (rather than actually hitting corners). That's why his milb ERA has always been adequate as he could get away with that nonsense. It's not working in mlb and won't work until he gets some sort of swing and miss pitch (also why his bb/9 is way up in the majors).

Maddux is an outlier & even putting him and nicolino in the same sentence is ridiculous. Maddux still struck people out and it wasn't until after his age 35 season that his k/9 really dipped from mid 6s

Nico's SO rate was rising a bit in the last outings.
