Simple, you just getting rid of players (people that produce) to cut payroll, on the other hand giving more than generous salary extensions to executives that are at best mediocre and do not produce on the field........
July 7, 20178 yr I basically think this is pretty disgraceful for Loria to do, especially if the entire franchise is losing $60 million this year. I can understand why Loria would want to "take care of" someone like Hill, despite how shitty of a GM he was, for loyalty reasons, but in that case why not just give him some of the money he earns from the sale? Loria is probably going to walk away with over a billion dollars here. And a lot of that increased value of the franchise is attributed solely to the taxpayer funded stadium. I don't get it. Unless this is standard operating procedure for selling MLB teams. I used to think Loria was a generous/charitable person, but it's absurd to give Hill $10 million of franchise money when they are desperate trying to cut contracts to facilitate the sale of the team. Just pay this future Denny's manager out of your pocket if you care so much about him. I agree, and feel like MLB shouldn't approve this.
