November 13, 20187 yr Samson is being a dick because he knows very well that the 2012 rebrand was a disaster and that it didnt work and that what Jeter is doing now is partly because of the ineptitude of Samson and Loria. He should be commending Jeter for doing this rebrand differently than what failed in 2012. Also, Samson knows damn well that Jeter's plan for success has more to it than the standing room only section and trading players away. I'd expect those stupid comments from uninformed casual fans on social media but Samson is way smarter than that comment and he knows very well that what Jeter is doing is fine.
November 13, 20187 yr I hate to even ask this but does anyone have access to the article on the athletic about Chip Bowers and the renovations?
November 13, 20187 yr Renderings of what will replace the statue and the new standing area in RF from Sports Business Daily.
November 13, 20187 yr Renderings of what will replace the statue and the new standing area in RF from Sports Business Daily. The new State Farm area instead of red looks much better too.
November 13, 20187 yr That top pic looks like section 1 and 2, the right field corner. That's where they were removing seats when they showed a video on the first day of the offseason. I like how that looks. Even though it will create less seats I like the idea of sitting at a space I can actually eat at and set my things down on especially when with friends. It's annoying putting things on the floor of my regular seats. That outfield "millenial section" is huge, in a good way. It's more than I expected and that should look awesome in reality. Man people are gonna get pegged by home runs out there too. Is that ivy on the outfield walls? Interesting. I like how the whole outfield looks subtle and cool colored, not as bright and gaudy. This is gonna be nice.
November 13, 20187 yr Very nice. The standing room area on the right field line only indicates four rows of standing room. That leaves more existing seating than I thank many of us thought. Not good or bad. Just an observation
November 13, 20187 yr Forgive me guys but that isn't RF that is Left field. The Budweiser sign is in the left field area
November 13, 20187 yr The new State Farm area instead of red looks much better too. Having that ivy type look and the Statefarm sign looks incredible.
November 13, 20187 yr Forgive me guys but that isn't RF that is Left field. The Budweiser sign is in the left field area The other pic is in the right field corner, on the foul side.
November 13, 20187 yr I like that there's 2 of these sections because that center field view is kinda far from home plate. Those who want a slightly closer angle from right field will enjoy that other space.
November 13, 20187 yr The blue walls is what I really wanted. Thank you Marlins for listening. That standing room section in right field is weird to me, since they are replacing “Homer” with more standing room, but whatever. I wish they added some seats where Homer was. That would be cool. The ivy replacing the all black batters eye is awesome. Overall, I give all the changes 9/10. I hated those lime green walls.
November 13, 20187 yr The top level is accessible to all fans from the Promenade Level, and it will feature a craft cocktail bar. The middle level will serve as an exclusive standing view platform with a drink rail for SRO Social Pass holders, and the lower level will serve as an exclusive group hospitality space. Details about the center field space. The top level is open to everyone, the middle level you need a ticket for, and the bottom level is for group sales.
November 13, 20187 yr I thought the batter's eye had to be black? I wonder if that will end up changing back to black if player's complain.
November 13, 20187 yr I thought the batter's eye had to be black? I wonder if that will end up changing back to black if player's complain. I don’t see an issue with it. I think in Wrigley, they have Ivy where the batter’s eye is. I could be wrong though.
November 13, 20187 yr Standing room is a huge selling point as it gets fans in at the cheapest ticket cost (although most Marlins tixs are very cheap on third party websites) and makes it a social event. I love the idea. When I lived in NY, my buddies and I would go to Citi Field, spend $10 on a SRO tix and sit out on the barstools/benches/whatever. And Citi Field also had 4 different areas dedicated just for SRO, and you also had the barstools outside of club level seatings by the food. Good job on this. Hopefully it pays off.
November 13, 20187 yr I don’t see an issue with it. I think in Wrigley, they have Ivy where the batter’s eye is. I could be wrong though. This is Wrigley Field these days, a mix of green and black I guess...
November 13, 20187 yr There are a lot of things I like about the overall aesthetic of Marlins Park, but almost all of them are because of their novelty. Jeff Loria was bad for a lot of reasons, but one of the few good things he did was eschew nostalgia and traditionalism with the ballpark. Nostalgia and traditionalism, unfortunately, is the straw that stirs baseball’s drink, so any “weird” colors or flourishes were gonna be beat out of that place as the years went on. It was inevitable. From nbc sports This is well said about the previous visual aspects of Marlins Park. It's not that the green walls and home run sculpture were specifically horrible, it's that they were too unique and over time they were bound to go. I didn't mind those things but being unique wasn't gonna give them longevity.
November 13, 20187 yr We joke about some of the ridiculous comments people put on social media but I really do feel like way more positive comments are showing up the last few days. People starting to get behind the new ownership and their changes.
November 13, 20187 yr We joke about some of the ridiculous comments people put on social media but I really do feel like way more positive comments are showing up the last few days. People starting to get behind the new ownership and their changes. I love how original people think they are. "Money on stadium but not on the players", "i guess if you're already standing, you can leave faster", "we can't fill seats, why do we need SRO." Like come on people, get some new content. The older generation (based off what i see commenting via twitter) thinks they are so funny.
November 13, 20187 yr I love how original people think they are. "Money on stadium but not on the players", This one is the one that makes me laugh the most. The thought that spending money on the ballpark and the uniform changes means we aren't bothering with improving the team. So much ignorance.
November 13, 20187 yr Author Renderings of what will replace the statue and the new standing area in RF from Sports Business Daily. That actually looks pretty good. I guess these standing room areas will be first come first serve? It's similar to what's already at the top of every section, just extended down a few rows. The ivy (could be cool to use a tropical flowering plant like bougainvillea??) is different, but looks nice. I wasn't too far off with the SRO look. The brown front to the tiers seems odd/out of place, though. That top pic looks like section 1 and 2, the right field corner. That's where they were removing seats when they showed a video on the first day of the offseason. I like how that looks. This is gonna be nice. Why? Only a few a year ever made it to the sculpture. I thought the batter's eye had to be black? I wonder if that will end up changing back to black if player's complain. Nope. Just a dark color. Comerica uses an ivy batters eye:
November 13, 20187 yr Details about the center field space. The top level is open to everyone, the middle level you need a ticket for, and the bottom level is for group sales. My initial reaction to all of this: The Center Field Section looks very fun and is a big improvement. However, this could still be a disaster if they charge too much for the middle SRO section and if SRO tickets for the top level are more than $7. I’m very meh about the RF area but it’s still an upgrade. And David Samson is a ridiculous silly person and I’ve pounded him on Twitter a few times when he says dumb things about the new regime.

Yeah, the RF SRO section isn't exciting - like I said, it's just like the top of the sections down a few rows, but still should be nice to have I guess. The middle tier of the center field thing strikes me as another version of those seats below the Budweiser bar. ---- The article mentioned more local food options......can we add a Doggi's Arepa Bar in the park? Anyone eaten there? It's delicious.
