I don't think he has any value.

and now only Jose Devers is what's left of the Stanton trade

Tomorrow is the first day of February.

Anyone have a calendar to confirm this?

Marlins projected to go 80-82 right now - https://blogs.fangraphs.com/the-lockout-projected-zips-standings-national-league-edition/. This is with some really bad offensive projections, including lower than expected projections for Jazz, Sanchez, and Garcia. Personally, I think this is 2-3 wins optimistic, however the pitching depth is real and should pay dividends. Maybe FG is right.

Marlins payroll is currently likely around $65m, which would rank 27th, 29th, and 30th (out of 30 teams) the last full three seasons (ignoring the disaster of 2020).

Broken record - the front office is a bunch of clowns if they don't spend minimum $30 more million bucks AND trade two major prospects for a longterm play now option. These last 3-4 players they need to fill out the roster need to have some serious impact to push that minimum 5 wins up.

And in 4th place, like I've said since December.

We will know what is important to this ownership group whenever this season begins.  Start the season with no impact free agents or trades, it will ALWAYS be about the money.

Make the moves (honestly good or bad, preferred good but still) shows they are actually committed to bringing a winner to South Florida on a consistent basis.

Really fairly simple.

Really no more excuse, they got the payroll space and great prospects and most important it's their last chance to prove to the fans they care, it's why I believe they would do some big WOW moves and can't wait for the end of this lockout. Yeah, you have no reason to believe they would do that but at the same time you also have no reason to believe they won't do that.

Unfortunately the ongoing lockout is setting up “nicely” for them as a built-in excuse for not spending more…

”well, we couldn’t accurately project revenues going forward because of the lost games, therefore we were uncomfortable spending too much.”

Believe me, even the sky is falling this team still would do their best to win as many games as possible because they just have no choice. We can always say the owners care only the money, but just never forgot why they would be the billionaires and that's because they always want to WINNING in what they do.

Marlins farm system was ranked 20 by baseball America? I read this in an article and haven't seen it myself. That seems......low

Not sure how that is possible with 5 guys ranked between 48-74 on their own list. It's not like Eder, Bleday, Burdick, Salas, Fulton, Mack, I. Lewis, Morisette, etc. are a bunch of pumpkins after them either. The farm may be missing a top 25 top end talent and some depth between 10th-20th best guy, but 20 seems very low. But maybe 19 teams have really good farms, and 10 are very bad.

But who cares. Spend $35+ million and trade two of the top 5 minor leaguers for a MLB player and be a top 8 team in the league. Eyes on the prize.

I'm rooting for one side of this negotiation to destroy the other, so I can watch the people who care about the outcome to go on life support. I don't even care which side. I want to see misplaced outrage!

ASS…HOLE

What they need is not a federal mediator, what they need are the money in our pocket …

The idea of either side not negotiating and try to come to an agreement is ridiculous, but then again we see that in politics all the time.

MLB not giving a counter proposal and demanding a mediator makes them look desperate, and you now the PA is going to hold out longer now because they know they have MLB in a bind now.

I just don't understand why both sides can't compromise and meet in the middle of what they both want so that each side gets some of what they want, but not all.
