Also, are they trying to make BA request a trade off the team?

I don't think this would make him request a trade off the team.

Also it's not like he's at the level Yelich was at when he requested his ... lol. Team can just say "pfft eat pine, meat."

This is a better idea than Sanchez FWIW. Maybe Garcia. Not sure. I'd lean yes.

I think BA is a tremendous instinctual defender. His RF numbers were fantastic. If those are still true a few years later, this is more probable to succeed.

It's a little desperate, but it may be the best of bad ideas.

They could also trade for Kemp + Trivino and Kemp then helps as a backup IF if Anderson is the lion's share in CF. Basically they STILL need a bat and RP in most scenarios.

I agree BA would make a better CF than the rest of our OF.  However,  they want Soler, Sanchez and Garcia getting everyday at bats.  For this to happen, one of Cooper or Aguilar would have to go with one of the aforementioned three going to DH.

Also means Wendle to play 3B everyday which will hurt our depth/bench.

I like the idea but it's not without it's drawbacks.  I guess they can keep Aguilar as a PH and back up 1st base so it would help us keep our depth?

Why move a good defensive 3B to CF?

Maybe the benefit of *plus* CF defense outweighs *plus* 3b defense.  I don't know whether that's true, just spitballing.  No idea whether BA would be a plus out there or not.  I'd agree with Lou that he has really good instincts so I think early reads, getting good jumps, etc, he'd excel at.  He's not terribly quick, but that's not always the whole story.  Probably would have average/above ave arm for a CF?

And then guessing they'd play Wendle at 3B.

We're probably reading too much into it.

It's crazy that we have one glaring hole yet we have a surplus of players for everywhere else. It's like we need a CF yet we have like half a dozen guys who could fill in there in the meantime. Gotta trade from that surplus to help get a real CF.

Stop making sense

This pisses me off. We gonna have openers again too??

We should have zero bullpen games this year. Five guys solidified in the rotation and multiple guys ready to go at upper levels. There shouldn't be any reason for it whatsoever.

If it happens, we as fans should file a grievance against the Marlins for service time manipulation. Lol

What's better

3B - Wendle
LF - Sanchez
CF - Anderson
RF - Garcia

or

3B - Anderson
LF - Soler/Cooper
CF - Sanchez
RF - Garcia

It's probably option A. Wendle is a high floor defender and hits just enough to eliminate the bomb of that LF/CF defense with the mashers.

Of course this is stupid as get a CF and be done with this - it's probably acceptable to have Garcia, Anderson, and Sanchez play there cumulatively 15-20 games. But that's it.

Reeks of desperation.

And idiotic.

If this was ever a plan should have been done from day 1 of Spring Training.

This tells you all you need to know about Jesus Sanchez in CF or even Avasial Garcia.

Like anyone with half a brain could have told you would happen.

Jesus Sanchez has a minor injury, the plan is still to have him play CF. It has nothing to do with what they think of him in CF.

Mattingly has compared Brian Anderson defensively to Kris Bryant so I’m sure he’s just giving this a try. It’s not a big deal, just a meaningless Spring Training game.

It could be that they go with option A against RHP and option B against LHP.
