yeah I think some people are taking it like we're saying everything she's done has been awful but I don't believe any of us have ever said that at any point.

We haven't. The opposite has happened though where some people refuse to put blame on her for literally anything.

Can I get a list of which people are in which camp around here as a point of reference? I think that would help us all out here, maybe have a pinned thread with the updated lists?

Too lazy, have a mod do it.

I’m Jewish, and Jews don’t like camping. I suppose it’s apropos then that I’m in neither camp 😉

For the record, I dislike not pulling the trigger for Reynolds or Mullins or Laureano or even Kiermaier. I dislike not signing a quality bullpen arm on a reasonable deal. I didn’t love the Soler and Garcia signing individually, even worse when they could have had Correa for 3 years max at a fair price.

I also don’t care about the Duvall trade, which seems to be an unpopular opinion around here 🤷🏼‍♂️

I like this method, like a survey style checklist.

Everyone should soon expect a survey in their emails with a list of moves or non-moves and you'll have to check off whether you liked them or not.

Please submit all your responses promptly.

Thank you.

I did. You didn't receive it? Maybe we have the wrong email address for you?

We have your email listed as HOverticalLUVSdaHOs69@gmail.com

Can you verify for me if that's your email?

She will get points from me if she fires Don in the next two weeks

Don clearly has no peers.

Nah, I don't use that one anymore. Try Hoverticalluvsurmami@larryshouse.edu

Probably Rowson.

Which ... if Don's not around to instruct, maybe does ok?

It only seems this way because one side only sees catastrophy and doomsday. This was a topic where we were grading Kim's performance and it's really only been one group that's gotten angry at the other for having an opinion, despite no one here having any control over any sort of outcome.

This is probably accurate.

I'm still half asleep right now but it seems accurate. I think it's accurate.

Anyone down for some mutual agreement here?

You keep saying this same thing, I haven't seen anyone say this. Since you quoted me, I'll assume I am included in said group and I know for a fact I haven't.

And @taiwanmarlin doesn't count if he's said it, since he thinks every day is doomsday. Love you Taiwan, just facts.

As for the original topic. I give her a C so far. But I give myself a D in MLB The Show so she is clearly better than me.

Lol, it would be a disaster if our GM worse than all of us.

Outside of the Duvall idiotic trade which made really no sense, she hasnt made any really ugly trades.

The Marte trade once Marte turned down their cheap ass extension offer (thanks ownership for being cheap), netted the Marlins a great asset.

She authored what many are considering a great draft last year.

While we can blame her for not acquiring a CF (legit), the free agent moves are probably not entirely her fault as she had limited funds from miserly ownership.  She needs to re-balance the organization at the top levels especially.  That's on her for not making trades that are needed to accomplish this.

I'd give her a C+ to this point really, the inability to make a big trade brings that grade down a lot.

Yea it's kinda like the moves she has made have been good but the one/ones she hasn't made have hurt.

If she ever does make that CF acquisition you almost do believe it'll be a good trade, the issue is she hasn't made it yet.

I was curious how many quality CF'ers were out there in general, so I poked around Fangraphs a bit for last year's CF WAR stats. At first I only saw 10 with 2+ WAR because by default it filtered for "Qualified." But then when I changed it to minimum 250 PA, there were:

- 3 CF'ers at 5+ WAR (Marte, Reynolds, Mullins)

- 10 CF'ers at 3+ WAR

- 20 at 2+ WAR

- 33 at 1+ WAR, including four players between 1-2 WAR who had limited playing time (i.e. Brandon Marsh, Bradley Zimmer, Brett Phillips, and Chas McCormick).

There are also four top-50 prospects who both have a 2022 ETA and project to be able to play CF -- Riley Greene, Brennen Davis, Alek Thomas, and Josh Lowe, plus Vidal Brujan and Jarren Duran also in the top 100 (from MLB.com) who may stick in center.

It's funny, I started out this research expecting that there were going to be very few good CF'ers, and so people were making it out to be easier to have a good one than it actually is. But what I found has shifted my mindset.

20 players with 2+ WAR; 4 more who projected to 2+ if they had a full season; and 4 top-50 prospects who should see the big leagues this year and project as CF'ers. In total, I count 28 capable players. With only 30 teams in the league, a team that has a strong-enough foundation to be competitive, like the Marlins do, really has little to no excuse for not getting a center fielder. Then again, Sanchez has been +0.1 defensive fWAR so far, so maybe it's moot and we're all putzes.

Are y’all going to give Kim credit if Luzardo busts out as fangraphs highlighted and his first game was in line with?

I think everyone was ok with that move given Marte wasn't re-signing, so not sure why you'd point at that specific one.

As has been pointed out, the trades that have been made have seemed to be pretty good/help the team out.   But the ignoring the clear trade of need, and signing a couple mid guys when we could've had one top tier guy (Correa) for the same amount, stings, and somewhat overshadows the positives.  Obviously as a GM, there are going to be moves/signings that work out for the team, and some that don't, but doing nothing at a clear need?

I didn't see the broadcast/interview, but here were a few comments over on the other marlins site that are concerning if it's really what she said.  I figured it was relevant to the discussion here.

-Apparently on the broadcast last night Kim Ng said Avisail Garcia "has been a 30 HR guy numerous times in his career." He's never hit more than 29 HRs, and that was last season. Before that, 20 was his high water mark. I so badly want it to work out with her both for the Marlins and what it would mean for women in sports, but it feels so much like she's in over her head.

-She was also touting Jorge Soler's On-Base ability as a lead-off man. He has a career OBP of .330, that's league average, you're not bringing him in for his On-Base ability. I don't know, she's toeing a company line, but I do wish she came off a little more knowledgeable.

-I didn't listen to the whole thing, but I heard it was pretty brutal. In a way, you feel for her because it's not the best situation for a GM. But it doesn't seem like she's done a very good job with the opportunities she's had here, and she's certainly not doing herself any favors whenever she speaks publicly.

Yea this was mentioned in the game thread that night but I chalk that one up to her saying generic/vague responses on tv. I really pray she isn't that clueless.

Edit: imagine if she was actually just trolling everyone lmao
