Isn't Avi historically an every-other year guy?

I fully expect - should they somehow trade him - for him to have a big year next year lol - it'd be a very Marlins thing to do.

Once Don is gone things will improve maybe possibly perhaps.

Actually if you look at his career it's once every four years and his last good year was last season sooooo....what does that tell us we're in for?

It’s once every other year dating back to 2017.

Baha, I fully expect him to get an extension.

Oh, I'm fully expecting that to be the case.  I'm just also saying it'd be a very Marlins thing to happen if we trade him and only then does he have a big year.

Not sure how you see that when you look at his numbers. He's opsd over .800 twice in twelve seasons.

I guess maybe if you throw out the first eight years of his MLB career?  He usually pretty replaceable overall. Oh well. Hopefully he absolutely kills it next year and they can find a deadline taker.

LF.  _____

CF. _____

RF. _____

Looks good to me.

The best lineup the Marlins can field under $65mm.

C.  University of Miami Great Mike Piazza out of retirement

1B. Albert Pujols , Donnie Baseball should be healed by now- platoon em. Could get more walks.

2B. JAZZ ?

3B. Trade for Miguel Cabrera, give him a swan song. Extend him for two more years too long too.

SS. Alex Rodriguez, I'm sure he can get 4 HR in a full season. Open the roof and let em fly.

LF.  Barry Bonds- Hopefully his lease didn't expire

CF. Ken Griffey - Dudes a stud, give him the Clemens contract. He can play close to his home, so when we play the Rays in Tampa. Pray for a three game series

RF. JJ Bleday.

Playing in Milwaukee also helped tremendously as well tbh.

Because you know, home parks dont matter.

How about this lineup !? honestly, nobody knows what would happen if Mas be the owner and retain this lineup and add some FA SPs in the 2018.

Have we circled back to the "2 pitchers away" argument again?

I'd ask the obvious question of which free agent pitchers but I feel like it was asked 5000 times originally.

Exactly.

Mas also said he'd promise a payroll of $130M which would have actually required trading some players away anyways (probably Ozuna goes anyways).

This ownership has "built up" the farm system which we haven't had in a long time, they just haven't done anything with it.

We had nothing to trade (except established guys such as Ozuna) and no good pitchers were available to just sign. Had to be blown up. They just need to take the actual next step now and USE the farm system to improve this team.

130M would be nice right about now

I believe if this current regime do a better job then nobody would remember Jorge Mas and his plans.

This current regime got the pitchers.

Just can't find the hitters.

So we've circled back to the original argument but changed the subject matter.

Except now we need like 6 hitters and multiple pitchers (that can stay healthy)

Definitely just two hitters away.

Cause we were definitely just two pitchers away before.

based on what teams get before 1 ticket is sold, anything less than 110 million payroll is fucking criminal.

I believe Sherman earns a ton of money even nobody buy the ticket.

If they keep all the pitching, don't trade anyone except say Cooper and Rojas and balloon payroll to $115m (or keep everyone and balloon it to $125m), I would they are 2 hitters away if those hitters are Nimmo and Swanson.

Team easily projects over 40 WAR with upside for more if Lewin/Bleday/Sanchez/Luzardo/Cabrera/Eury/Berry really take off next year, or Rogers returns to form, etc.

That said, $115m is certainly unrealistic, so this answer is likely 4-5 players away as they'll have to replace what they trade (presumably Pablo) and at least 3, likely 4, maybe 5, of those players are immediate hitters.

Legit, wonder what it would take for the Marlins to trade for Giancarlo Stanton and some Cash from the Yankees.

They want to sign Judge, and need to clear some salary. Send him back to Miami for Rojas and a few prospects. Heck, maybe even a big time prospect like Sixto for more cash.
