I almost feel like the only reason Sherman even approved the 15ish aav for Avi's contract was because Jeter was there and wanted to spend some money finally? So yeah, I feel that going forward Sherman will allow maybe a Soler-esque contract in terms of value. I remember some people theorizing before the Soler signing that the max Sherman was willing to spend seemed to be about 12 per year which was dead-on for Soler. I kinda get the same feeling so I don't think we'll even see an Avi-like signing again in terms of cost anytime soon. I am 100% expecting them to go into next season touting how great Bleday and Berry will be so they don't see the need to sign any high value FA's. It almost feels like he's just salivating at the idea of when he can have Ng trade Sandy away for prospects too so he won't have to pay him. Sherman really has no desire to win, at ALL. He literally seems to have absolutely no impetus to win. I'm not even referring to an "at any cost" approach but just as in "man, it would be nice to have a team in the mix". He seems fully content to sit back, rake in the revenue sharing bucks, tv money, etc. and be completely and utterly silent.
