Yeah, a few different ways to interpret that..

With the way that they both laughed after he said it could be that it is something that they had been previously joking about.

It could also be referencing that Donnie could either go to the Yankees as their next manager, or perhaps go to the Mets as part of Showalters staff and the “maybe I’ll see you in New York could mean that Donnie might see Sandy when the Marlins go to play either the Mets or the Yankees.

It could also mean that perhaps Donnie will retire and move to live in NY and perhaps when Sandy is in town they can go and get some pizza.

It could also mean that maybe Sandy might sign with the Yankees or Mets and Donnie will be part of either of those organizations and might see Sandy there if he signed or potentially gets traded there.

But most likely it was just a joke said in jest referencing something they had previously joked about.

Let him figure it out batting 8th or 9th. Get competent hitting instructors and see what they can get from him. Power is clearly there just has to be able to get that sorted.

We lost a few games this year due to poor defense at first as well so if we don't have offense anyways, give me the glovework. He'll still be really cheap, no need to non-tender. That'd be stupid.

I'm pretty sure Lewin is out of options, so I don't know how that would work out unless you want to give him the lion's share at 1B. That seems like a stretch. They'd need presumably Anderson to help him at 1B (which also satisfies the defensive angle I imagine), and they could move Berti around all over on the bench. Cooper and one of Wendle/Rojas would be trades for relievers in this scenario to make room.

I think they probably keep him through the winter on the 40 man and DFA him when rosters are set to try and sneak him through back to AAA. I don't think he's earned a figuring it out batting 8th role for this team. They need a better option, or just to keep Cooper who still hit the ball really hard.

According to Fangraphs there's 1 option remaining. I suppose I'd be ok having Anderson play at first base but that does kind of waste his arm strength.

I'd like to see how he does with the shift restrictions coming up, really. I will concede that he needs to cut down on his strikeout rate.

Actually, with Rizzo Abreu and JD all fitting the Miami lowball option, I guess the Marlins could definitely get one of them because someone's gonna fall through the cracks and not get the offer they want so maybe we do surprisingly add one that way.

Yeah I feel like one of those guys could be a FA acquisition. I'd like Abreu the most of the options, though I assume most would.

I don't think they've updated, he's been up 20-22. But if they have updated the system, yes keep him for AAA. That's of course ideal here.

I'm not certain on this one so a genuine ask, did they not make any exceptions for 2020's callups with regards to Options?

I don't either, the COVID rules were confusing. I do know some guys got full years of service time for a game or two so maybe this preserved an option. Lewin has been a professional for 9 seasons so I don't think if there are some exemptions he is going to fit into it. This suggests he is OOO but I don't know if it's accurate - https://blogs.fangraphs.com/examining-the-national-leagues-2022-40-man-crunch/. I am assuming it is but would love a hard answer if someone does know.
