It reminds me of when Dan Marino retired, the Dolphins went for like 20 years of many many quarterbacks even some good veterans and draft picks, most were terrible and some decent but no one could ever live up or come close to being near as good as Marino. Now with Tua they MIGHT finally have their QB to take Marino’s place, but even that is huge question mark with his health issues and even people wondering if he’s good enough, so that’s not even for sure. Of course it’s a different situation completely but it feels like it sometimes with Marlins. After JT left they might go through some years of catchers before they can get someone who will match him. 😂 well JT was pretty special. although it would be nice, aspiring to get another JT is a fool's errand. that said, the gulf between Stallings and JT is so wide it's not hard to find a replacement for Stallings in the very least and let Fortes get the fulltime gig for now and see how he does as he's boosted himself up quite a bit after his piss poor start. and for christsakes, LET FORTES CATCH SANDY.

May 31, 20233 yr Sandy Alcantara is having trouble getting guys out 3 times this year. 1st time through the order: .183/.224/.301 2nd: .216/.293/.273 3rd: .297/.392/.516 4th: .500/.533/.643 We all got used to him pitching 8 or 9 innings last year, but he needs to be a 6 inning QS guy right now. He's also struggling pitching out of the stretch this year. Bases empty: .185/.258/.296 Runners on: .330/.389/.474 RISP: .353/.431/.529 Something's up, but I don't know what. Doesn't seem physical health related though, maybe just a mental thing at this point.

I think that he was so sad when Pablo Lopez left. They were best friends and even closer. 😉 No just kidding, but I think he did say once that they were like brothers. They pitched years together and were always hanging out on and off the field. And now that Pablo left Sandy feels like he’s been deserted with no best friend on the team anymore. His days go by and he feels empty and he’s dreaming of the day that the Marlins will trade him to the Twins so he will be reunited with his best friend. 😢 😭 Edited May 31, 20233 yr by SirFishFan

May 31, 20233 yr 2 hours ago, hovertical said: While this makes sense....they won't do it Do you want a guy coming out of the bullpen who can't throw strikes? He's the last person I'd want to move to the bullpen.

He does have one option left but he has been pitching better in May. Got Oakland and KC next two starts so let him work out some stuff then against two really bad teams.
June 1, 20233 yr 6-man rotation? Euru is probably on an innings limit, Luzardo has a serious history of arm injuries, Cabrera and Garrett maybe have innings limits as well, so this might be helpful for their September/October push!

Also, continue pulling him earlier/before trouble and letting the leash out slowly, so he can build more confidence.

June 1, 20233 yr Wonder if any of these guys can be used as a trade chip? I don't love the idea because the depth is very thin if someone gets hurt, but this team desperately needs another bat more than it needs a starter.
