July 28, 20233 yr Every team is doing it when Miggy comes to town and since it is Miguel Cabrera Weekend, safe to say the Marlins also will give him a gift. Give us your best guess for what that gift will be.
July 28, 20233 yr The biggest mistake the Marlins ever made (and they've made a lot of them) was not buying out his arbitration years. Dude should have been a Marlin for life, or at least for a much longer time than five years. Cabrera is probably the single greatest talent that has ever put on a Marlins uniform.

So are you guessing the gift is retroactively buying out his Arby years?

July 28, 20233 yr 2 hours ago, SonOfJack said: Probably, you didn't ask that he plays it well Because he is Miguel Cabrera I already know he will be less of a disaster even at his advanced age than Jacob Stallings. And its not like Stallings is really good defensively anymore anyway, which is really why I asked if he can play catcher...
July 28, 20233 yr It’s sad that Cabrera didn’t stick around long enough to be a true Marlins legend in the sense of like “signing a one day contract with the Marlins and then retiring so he can retire a Marlin.” He will forever be considered an all time Detroit Tigers legend and will have a Tigers hat on his plaque when he goes in the Hall of Fame, as he should have it. I’m still waiting and at this point we might not ever see it, for the Marlins first HOFer. I don’t know if we will ever see that though, with the Marlins trading away ever great player they’ve ever had and never keeping anyone around long enough to be a HOF representative. The closer chance they ever had was with Stanton, still would have been a long shot for him to make the HOF, but if he would have stayed healthy and stayed with the Marlins for his whole career and hit 500+ HR. He could have been the first. Gary Sheffield has said for years that he wants to have a Marlins hat on his HOF plaque, but I’m not sure he will ever make it at least in the traditional way. And even if he does make it, I just have a feeling that MLB find a way to override his request and include the Dodgers and Braves and Yankees logos on there as well. Just because.. Marlins. 😂 Edited July 28, 20233 yr by SirFishFan

July 28, 20233 yr 20 minutes ago, SonOfJack said: You all suck, not 1 legit guess for the gift I’m guessing a plaque of him somewhere in the park or a bust of him somewhere or his name somewhere on the wall. Retired number might be taking things too far.. but that’s always a possibility. But now that they’re taking on Robertson’s salary, they might not have a big budget remaining for a gift. So most likely a 2003 commemorative Cabrera jersey and a video montage of Cabrera in 2003 on the big screen. 😂 Edited July 28, 20233 yr by SirFishFan

July 28, 20233 yr Author A hand drawn piece of artwork by that artist they used to feature on the Marlins charity telecasts. He did one of Stanton and I forget who else. Maybe from the 2003 World Series when he homered off Clemens.

The crowd isn't accepting this and neither is the promoter. They are telling Cabrera this game will not begin until he has finished eating the Gigante."
July 28, 20233 yr Maybe they’ll paint all the seats orange and not sell any tickets so Miggy will feel at home.
