  1. I wouldn’t go as far as saying they screwed up. Actually they improved the team for sure even if just through strengthening the bullpen. My issue is I feel this was the offseason to start adding some solid veteran position players to supplement the core (which could very well still happen). And they definitely haven’t improved enough to compete against the Braves and Mets (who probably land Bauer to go with Degrom). I figured it was important to build on last year and make sure they do everything possible, even if it means losing some money in the short term, to start winning. It’s the only way these shitty miami fans go to the stadium. Granted, I’ll give them the fact that having basically no revenue last season and not having the TV deal they expected is throwing a kink in the gears.

  2. We are in agreement for sure. What if they find out end of next month that they can't get the players vaccinated? Or, even worse, what if they find that out midway through the delayed Spring Training? "Guess we'll have to just delay more. 130 game season in 4 months. Prorated pay now guys, sorry, nothing else we could have done." I believe all fans are in agreement that Manfred is the suck. The end of this CBA is going to be ugly ugly ugly.

  3. They managed to play last year with minimal issue. There is no reason to delay the start this year. What are they going to have figured out a month later that isn't figured out now? This another example of using the crisis to gain control - Manfred essentially wants unchecked control of MLB. Have I mentioned that I dont like Manfred?!? I don't like unions either, but they've got ground to stand on here.

  4. Number 5 is the poison pill there. Don’t blame players for saying no

  5. Yeah I don't want Manfred getting more control here. 14 teams ... eh, too many.

  6. I don't think this group will do that, though. Definitely seems much more of a level-headed group, all told.

  7. They also lost Kintzler, Boxberger and Vincent from last year's bullpen, I'm not sure it's a improvement or not.

  9. Very unfair assessment there.

  10. Lmao if it's legal anywhere it's probably legal in Colorado.

  11. That's illegal, gross and off-topic.

  12. Oof. If they stay put. Man this team is going to be boring and terrible. A mid-tier rotation with pieces that are learning and zero offense that has a problem with swing and misses. I can't wait for daily tweets about how this team leads the league in some purposeless stat like...LIPS...or their instagram alerting me "to stay tuned to MLBNetwork for Jazz flashing the leather!" while they are taking early flights out of NY to escape fans meeting them at the gate with brooms.

  13. Definitely. I get that the MLB has lost money but these owners didn’t get rich from a baseball team. Sherman is a billionaire, and if it means having to be 20-30M in the red this season you fucking do it coming off the first postseason appearance we’ve had in almost 20 years. You have to build on that excitement at all costs. That’s the only way to get fans in the park and increase revenues. I don’t mean going out and getting Springer and JT or some other star. I mean plugging team holes with consistently solid major league depth : which historically is the kind of team that actually produces year in year out. And right now the pitching (both starting and relief) seems poised to be a plus staff, but we can’t go in there with Brinson/wallach/Harrison/Isan getting any kind of consistent AB’s PLUS the re-introduction of the pitcher in the 9 hole. Let’s see how it plays out

  17. Disappointing, maybe. But if the trades didn't make sense (other teams asking too much), or the free agents wanted too much and will eventually end up on the bench anyways (save bullpen) ... then, eh. It's not the worst thing in the world. They may have tried to do a lot and couldn't find anything with which they were comfortable. And I'm ok with that. Don't make moves for the sake of making moves, ya know?

  18. I didn't make it sound that way and @marlinsmaniac clearly did not either. Still a disappointing off-season if this is it. I still plan to watch the games, follow the team and get hyped about the season. They overachieved last year and hopefully can again. But this front office should've at least tried to do more this off-season.

  19. Am I crazy or are we talking about a team that had the 18th highest wRC+ in MLB in 2020? They're currently minus Joyce and plus a full season of Marte. And the rookies that will come up in 2021 will come up after having a true seasoning in Triple A. I wouldn't be shocked if, given the current roster, they finish as a league average lineup. I'd love to see them add a hitter and a pitcher, but y'all are making it sound like they passed on Mike Trout looking for a league minimum deal.

  20. I’m very disappointed if it is true.

  21. If that’s the case, it’s gonna be a long season. This is still a bottom 5 offense
