1. MLB.com projects AJ as Sunday's starter, and I'd be surprised if he's gone before then. As far as the Vargas/Olsen situation, both have looked good so it wouldn't be terrible if they stayed.
2. LeBetard's show is a complete joke and makes the whole sports radio industry look like 3rd grade entertainment. I will listen to that show for 15 minutes and may here 2 minutes of actual sports talk. His show ruins the credibility of 790 as a real sports station. They should have offered Jorge Sedano a ton of money to come and host a show on their station. Its funny to because Just 4 days ago Le Batard wrote this article supporting the marlins: NATS ARE A FLUKE AND WILL BE CAUGHT Source: DAN LE BATARD, Herald Sports Writer At the risk of becoming the fifth superhero in Fantastic Four - ladies and gentlemen, introducing Homer Man! - I still believe the Marlins are going to the playoffs. The recent stretch of stench is not who they are. They've underachieved about as much as they can and are still within a whiff of the wild card. Atlanta? No, that's not the team the Marlins will catch. Washington is.The Nationals are an aberration, a fluke, a statistical anomaly. All season, they have given up ( i cant get the whole thing because you have to pay for it on the hearld website) Oj Mcduffie's is another Joke to radio. How does 790 expect to control the sports market here if they cant even get real hosts on their shows? The only guy worth a damn on that network is Boog. Just like I think the only guy worth a damn on 560 is the guy that comes on at 7 when the marlins have a late west coast game. 868720 Boog's show is awesome...as far as QAM goes, is Eddie K still there? Nothing like coming home late-ish on those summer nights in 2003 and listening to him talk some baseball. I also remember the time I wanted to call in and get some free Marlins tickets because I could name one player on the Mighty Ducks...I forget why I didn't actually do it.
3. Wow...that is crazy good. I'm definitely gonna pick that up.
4. The pee break seems most likely. I read rumor forum that manny has a ipod installed his sunglasses 866714 He wore those in the All-Star Game, no other time... 866760 I thought I saw him wearing them in the Saturday Phillies game too...cause I remember commenting how he wasn't wearing the sunglasses with the strap like he normally does. Maybe those were a non-musical pair.
5. To play devil's advocate, A-Rod is (and historically has when he was with Texas) led his team in major offensive categories (HR, AVG & RBI) and clearly makes the most money. 868632 And his team has never won the World Series... :whistle
6. If he does hang it up for the remainder of the season it would be one of most bizarre things to happen this year. I'd really like to hear what prompted this.
7. It's been one thing after another for him. I can't imagine how frustrated he must be.
8. I could've told you the Nats were going to come apart, and I have actually been saying it for a little while. That's not to say they may not be in the race the rest of the year, but they played over their heads in June, plain and simple. The more they slip, the more it helps us if you're looking at the wild card because if the Braves overtake them, then you've got a sliding Nats team as the wild-card leaders and then teams that we are tied with in the loss column. If we keep winning, it'll all fall into place... :thumbup
9. bah, the team is coming together better. Just run with them and pick up a relief pitcher if need be. If teams arent gonna give market value for AJ. 868622 You got it...if we don't get a good deal for AJ don't bother with it...I'd rather have AJ for the rest of the year and the draft picks when he signs elsewhere than a trade where we get screwed.
10. I think BoSox should get rid of Bellhorn and put Mueller at 2B. I just think that's the smart thing to do... 868657 Mueller has said he can't play second except in emergency situations because of his past knee injuries and inexperience at the position. They've got Cora and Graffanino as well as two guys in the minors (Dustin Pedroia and Hanley Ramirez is now playing second in the minors as well).
11. I'll repeat what I said last time someone suggested this: Griffey will get hurt on his way to the bank to cash his check. 868584 He's finally healthy and he's hitting up a storm. 868587 Didn't people say that last year? :plain

I'm not sure if the article was posted or if someone just alluded to it, but it was mentioned, I believe the idea was to show that we underrate AJ tremendously by looking at his W-L.

The good thing is we're tied in the loss column with the teams ahead of us in the division and wild card besides those at the top. So the long list of teams in front of us is a bit deceiving.
14. neither, go find a better team to trade with. Teams are desperate and we have the "big fish" of the pond to dangle right now 867389 Exactly what I said. AJ is the guy that all these teams are after. Why settle for a lowball offer?
15. I started cracking up when I heard that...I mean, here's a guy who last season was passed on in favor of a Single-A callup (Kensing) down the stretch for spot starts and now he's starting for the Yankees? Hilarious.
16. Here's a crazy stat from Boog: The last SP acquired midseason who won a game for his team in the World Series was Mike Torrez in 1977. Wow.
17. I'm in agreement. We've got the guy everyone is after in this situation. Penn is a good prospect but as people have said, it's not like we're exactly lacking in terms of starting pitcher prospects. If teams really want AJ, start the discussion on our terms and work from there. If nobody bites, then we've got AJ for the rest of the season. It's not like that's such a bad thing.
18. yeah, i heard him for the first time today....among his brilliant points: 1) that not only was the Penny trade dumb, but he would have rather have traded AJ or Beckett last year and keep Brad "workhorse of the staff" Penny 2) that this 2005 team was not considered to be a World Series contender on paper before this season started. at least not according to anyone he knew. 3) that despite the fact that many Marlins players agree with Boog that this team is better on paper than the 2003 team was, they're all wrong. the 2003 team was better on paper. 867077 The funniest part about that is he said that people thought we could win the pennant. So we can get to the World Series, but nobody thought we could win it? If you say so.
19. Rachel is just not photogenic. Pictures don't do her justice. Rachel 866893 I agree totally. Rachel it is.
20. For those that don't know who he is, there's this moron who somehow has enough spare time to wait on the line for Boog's show everyday. He calls in, stutters like a kid with Down's syndrome, makes no good points, and ties up Boog with logic that makes a dog look like a genius. Anyone else sick of listening to this guy call in, and make his stupid points? 867044 Yeah wow he was in rare form today. Talking about how he would've kept D-Lee and Pudge in the offseason (with the millions he has in the bank, I'm sure) and how Penny was the best of the righty starters we had. Then he says that nobody thought that this year's team was good enough to win the World Series coming into the season, but people thought we could go to the World Series. Here's a hint: if you picked a team to go to the WS coming into the season, that means you think they have a chance of winning it.

it aint just about the 5.5 games back, its also about those other teams. 866486 Thank God someone finally noticed this. We're chasing all four of the other teams in the division not just the Nationals. We're chasing the Braves, Phils, Cubs, Mets, and Astros for the Wild Card. Is it doable? Yes, but it's a lot harder to pass four or five teams than if we were just chasing one. The more teams you chase, the slimmer the odds that you can catch them all. Hopefully with guys getting healthy we can go on a big run. 866832 Yeah but if you look at the standings it's not like we're miles behind all of these other teams, we're within a game or two of them, except for the Braves. It's the Braves and a pack of teams 3-5 games behind them, and we're a part of that pack.
22. Something just came up on Boog's show that I'm kinda curious about. A caller asked about Tony Saunders (though he called him "Tony Anderson") and Boog said he thought that he was somewhere in the Orioles' minor league system now but wasn't positive. Any of the minor league experts on here have any idea?
23. Finished it this morning...it's really good. The ending to this one is a cliffhanger (by saying that I'm not giving anything away) so I'm already excited to read the next book when it comes out.
24. I say screw both the Red Sox FO and the O's FO and trade him to the Blue Jays. Get Chacin and others...for AJ 866778 I agree. If we can go back to the Jays and get the Chacin/League deal, go for it. Chacin has been good this year and he's a young guy who's bound to get better, and League is a potential closer in the making.
