Who are your All-Stars?
The numbers Miggie's leading Morneau in are slugging, HR, and that team stat they call RBI. I don't want to have this argument for the 87th time but I want to point out that Miguel has more RBIs than Morneau because he's beast at driving in runners on base and Morneau is not. So far this season Morneau has 32 RBIs out of 219 runners on (14.6%) while Miguel has 41 RBIs out of 213 runners on (19.2%). Including homers, Miguel has 13 more RBIs with 6 fewer runners on base.

Closing the roof on hot nights?!
I think that almost every game in Arizona and Houston has the roof closed. My guess is maybe we'll have the roof open for most games in April but closed the rest of the year.

The Marlins Have Been Unlucky
I don't buy the tougher schedule argument either unless the SOS in that RPI standings adjusts for home / road games and I bet they don't. We're +5 in home games and that's 2nd in the NL. The Braves are -10 and the Phillies are -5.

The Marlins Have Been Unlucky
We're 12th in OPS+ and 9th in ERA+ in the NL. I think we've earned the 31-35 record which is 11th best in the league.

Your Opinions: League Expansion
I'm not sure but I think there could be an interleague series at all time. If my math is correct there would be 75 interleague series with 225 games so they could be spread out throughout the season.

Your Opinions: League Expansion
I like a balanced schedule because of fairness of it. I would create two 15 team leagues. Maybe one for the East and one for the West. There would be no divisions within each league. Each team would play 7 league teams 9 games and the other 7 league teams 8 games and each opposing league team 3 games. The season would be extended to 164 games. Top 4 teams in each league make the Playoffs.

Marlins Starting Pitching
- Why is Chris Leroux on this team?
At least he was pretty with his inherited runners. He came in with 7 runners on and none of them scored and that's with him getting out of the inning so no cheapies with the 7.- Is Toronto for real?
As great as ARod and Jeter have being they are grossly overpaid.- LollyGag Gate
Per Clark Spencer #Marlins mgr fredi gonzalez says hanley won't return to lineup until he "works out issues"/apologize to teammates A forced apology means nothing. Hanley was wrong for dogging it but Fredi and management deserve blame for allowing lackadaisical effort by the overall team the past few seasons.- LollyGag Gate
That's as bad a display of dogging it as I can remember given the situation.. 3 runners running around the bases. During the replay I said "WOW" just prior to Rich saying it.- Dallas Braden is pitching well...
Nick Swisher ran over the mound a few days ago and no one whined about it. Whether the breaking of an "unwritten rule" is a crime is for the most part based on what the guy doing the "breaking" looks like.- DH coming to the NL for Phillies/Jays series
It's annoying to us that the Phillies get extra home games. We played at the neutral field in Chicago, I believe. Maybe that would have been preferable? They'll sell more tickets in Philadelphia than in a neutral field so it's Philadelphia.- Meyer Activated; Jones to AAA
I have no problem with him blowing-off Fanfest. The way fans abuse him makes no sense based on the he has pitched in his career. His stats are definetly better than average but all he gets is hate. A traffic violation, blowing-off Fanfest and a minor business disagreement are minute off the field stuff. It's not as if he's a drunk driver or woman beater.- Meyer Activated; Jones to AAA
Driving without a license and having a small beef with his agent and are not big off the field issues. Now I remember why I never waste time reading that stupid newspaper.- Alex Gordon
Gaby and Logan will probably outhit Maybin, Carroll and Petersen so would like to see if Logan can handle the OF.- 5/9 Post Game
Crappy baserunning the last two games. One blunder by Petersen and two by Uggla.- Defense!
Defensive grades so far this season: Gaby: D+ Uggla: C Hanley: C Cantu: C Coghlan: D Maybin: D- Cody: C Paulino: A Baker: D-- Great Stat Lines
The Astros have a .601 OPS so far this season. If they keep it up I bet that's the lowest team OPS in a lot of years if not ever. It's not really anywhere near the lowest ever (deadball era) but it would be one of the worst since then. It'd be the worst since the 1972 Rangers and their .581 OPS (First year in Texas). Other non-deadball teams with an OPS under .601: 1942 Oakland Athletics .592 1942 Philadelphia Phillies .595 1964 Houston Astros .599 1968 New York Mets .596 1968 Chicago White Sox .595 BTW, it's worth noting that .601 was worse than most deadball teams too. How does their OPS+ (59) rank among the all-time worst?- Great Stat Lines

- May 6, 2010- Giants at "Don't Call Them Florida" Marlins
I really like Allison Williams' work. She obviously spends the time prepping and/or she knows what she's doing. Maybe others have seen her before this year but to me she came out of nowhere (UM) and looks really comfortable out there and not at all overwhelmed. Personally I think she has a future. Typical Marlins overachiever. What do others think? I'm curious. I like her but I admit I think a requirement for a sideline reporter is being a pretty girl.- This lineup may be about to get a whole lot faster...
I don't understand why it wouldn't be better to put Cody in CF everyday and let BC get a bunch of starts. If you do that I wish you were the manager the next few weeks.- Cool Article: Unwritten Rules Violations
From Yahoo more unwritten rules, the article goes into far more detail, but here's the basics 1. Don't swing at the first pitch after back-to-back home runs 2. Don't work the count when your team is up or down by a lot 3.. When hit by a pitch, don't rub the mark 4. Don't stand on the dirt cutout at home plate while a pitcher is warming up 5. Don't walk in front of a catcher or umpire when getting into batter's box 6. Don't help the opposition make a play (bracing them from falling into the dugout, etc.) 7. Relievers take it easy when facing other relievers 8. Follow the umpire's Code when addressing them on the field. 9. Pitchers stay in the dugout at least until the end of the inning in which they get pulled 10. Pitchers never show up their fielders to read more My link 1, 2 and 7 are dumb. Other dumb ones are not stealing bases and not advancing a base on flyouts in lopsided games. For some reason sliding into home when you don't need to slide is a big crime too. Trying to break a no-hitter with a bunt attempt is another crime but shouldn't be. That players can't fratenize with players from the other teams is another dumb unwritten rule. After reading that other article I no longer feel bad for Blyleven for not being in the HoF.- Arizona immigration law
The major economic drawback of loose immigration policy is the potential for the new immigrants to exploit the welfare state and consume public goods and services without first paying a sufficient amount first through taxation. The solution to this would be to reform the welfare model so it could not be abused. The government needs to make it clear that immigrants will be given an opportunity to earn a living but will be exluded from welfare (and I mean this term loosely) benefits. It simply isn't sustainable for taxpayers to be subsidizing benefits of immigrants. I don't see something like that ever getting passed. Is it even constitutional? I doubt it. Not exactly the same but when California residents passed an amendment to deny illegal immigrants various government services such as education, health care, etc. it was found to be unconstitutional in the courts. - Why is Chris Leroux on this team?
