Bonifacio's struggles continue
These are the runs created per PA (based on extrapolated runs). I guess Coghlan has being better than I thought. Hanley Ramirez - 0.175 Dan Uggla - 0.143 Jorge Cantu - 0.140 Ross Gload - 0.133 John Baker - 0.130 Jeremy Hermida - 0.120 Chris Coghlan - 0.117 Cody Ross - 0.117 Ronny Paulino - 0.105 Wes Helms - 0.090 Emilio Bonifacio - 0.082 Cameron Maybin - 0.079 Alfredo Amezaga - 0.066

Kiko Calero should be our closer ....
Calero or Nunez should be closing. It's dumb to have your 4th best reliever as the closer. Lindstrom should be pitching late in games when we're behind such as how Calero was used yesterday.

Bonifacio's struggles continue
It's pretty sad that we're playing with 8 players every night, while the opponent gets 10. Bonifacio would be better off wearing the other team's jersey...he's already playing for them. Not only is he easily the worst offensive 3B in baseball...but now he seems to make an error every other night. Worst starting baseball player in MLB...and it's not even close. Not defending Bonifacio because he sucks but Coghlan is almost as bad if not more so when you factor defense but everyone loves him. Strange.

Ryan Spilborghs
.761 OPS away from Coors. If we had a LF and a 3B who OPSed .761 we would be in pretty good shape.

Post Game 6/5
According to fangraphs.com we shouldn't have bunted. Before the bunt they say we had a 34.5% chance of winning and after the bunt it went down to 28.9%. http://www.fangraphs.com/plays.aspx?date=2009-06-05&team=Marlins&dh=0

At least
Last year team OPSed .755 after the all-star game. This year's team is OPSing .707. We have 5 of the worst 24 OPS in the NL (Fredo, Maybin, Boni, Helms and Coghlan). --- minimum 75 PAs

Post Game 6/5
that's amount of runs to expect, not % of time a run has scored. at that point, we just need 1 run Exactly. That was the right time to bunt.

At least
I still don't see why this offense is so drastically worse from last year 3 reasons: Maybin, Bonifacio and Coghlan. It's not hard to figure out.

Bonifacio's struggles continue
It's hard to explain what happened to the defense. In '07 we sucked because Fredi ignored defense but this year I don't think that's the case.

Bonifacio's struggles continue
According to UZR Hermida, Ross, Uggla and Coghlan are all worse defensively than Bonifacio.

Bonifacio's struggles continue
I think Carroll should be given a shot. He plays good defense and I'm sure he can put up a .600 OPS ala Coglan and Bonifacio if given regular playing time.

Interesting baseball Questions
Bottom of the 9th, tied game, runners on first and third or bases loaded, one out. Most managers bring the IF in even if the batter is a slow fat guy. Makes no sense. They should play for the DP.

Anibal to the DL, Martinez back
Both teams did well in that trade. They got two very good players and wouldn't have a WS without them and we got one of the best players in the game. I'm sure both GMs are happy how it turned out.

ESPN article: "Please let me finish this"
Wins shouldn't matter in arbitration but I'm sure they do.

Stanton to AA Jacksonville
Do you think any of the outfield guys not named Stanton, Morrison or Maybin we have projects better than Gaby? If not then we need both Gaby and Morrison on the field at the same time. I'd rather have Morrison than Gaby in LF, and I'd rather have Gaby than Raynor, Cousins or Peterson. You think this wouldn't be a hard concept, but it is. There's no doubt future team is this. And by future, I mean.... probably August or September at the rate they are going. June 2010 at the latest. C - Baker 1B - G. Sanchez 2B - Coghlan SS - Hanley 3B - ?* LF - Morrison CF - Maybin RF - Stanton B - Bonifacio, Hayes, Raynor, Petersen/Cousins, and Wes Helms/Future "Veteran Presence" guys *With the organization praying that Dominguez is ready in 2011 to complete the puzzle That reminds me of '06.

What kind of lineup is this?!
McLouth has a 21 point edge in OPS+ over Hermida. That's a significant edge for McLouth.

Hanley Ramirez: Trade him?
At what point do we stop getting prospects and start playing to win with who we have... I would be very surpirsed if Hanley gets traded but others will surely get traded this year and next for more prospects.

Nats Fire St. Claire
A big part of their problem is their defense. It doesn't help their pitching at all.

Suggest a name for the new stadium
Ryder seems to still have a lot of cash. They plan to donate $1M to the Red Cross. They should be able to spare $1-2M a year for the naming rights. See the link; http://www.bizjourna...ml?ana=from_rss I doubt it because Ryder got out of the sports sponsorship business a few years ago when they left the Doral golf tournament and also gave up the naming rights for the UM basketball arena.

6/1 Post Game
How anyone other than Jorge Julio be our player of the game is ridiculous. No poll needed. Macha gift wrapped a win for us. He makes Fredi look like a genius.

Marlins' TV ratings
I thought the Miami TV market was bigger than Tampa's but looking at those numbers I guess Tampa's is bigger.

Airline Bag - Lost
The flight was last Tuesday night. I'm pretty sure it was stolen in Miami. She changed planes in Washington DC and saw the bag there and United shows it as being "scanned" in Miami so it arrived in Miami. Some POS probably stoled it.
