MVP: Jeter or Ortiz?
If I had to choose between the two, I'd have to choose Jeter. I think Big Papi is the best hitter in the game, but I'd take a guy with 4 tools over a guy with only 2. If David could play D, I might say Ortiz. It also depends which of the two makes it to October.

Josh Beckett is Bad
Beckett is lucky to get the run support he does otherwise he'd have already lost nearly 10 games.

Pelicans Game
Hey just saw a Pelicans game about a week back thought i'd talk about what I saw in the Braves system. For Myrtle Beach it was James Parr taking the hill. 20-21 years old and doing well at single A is a pretty good combination for success. unfortunately it didn't work out that way for him. Looked like he was a let-them-hit-it kind of pitcher. His fastball was good with occasional sinking action and his curve seemed raw but promising. When he left his fastball up the zone he was creamed. They went deep multiple times off him in the game. After he had already given up 4 runs, he started to use a changeup, which looked like his best pitch. Nobody could hit it. He struck out the next 2 batters to get out of the inning, all on changeups. On the offensive end Kala Kal'ahue looked impressive, going 3 for 3 with two moonshots and a single. He's a big guy looks like he has potential to hit some jacks at the major league level. Van Pope also went deep. He was great on the defensive end at third base and had a very nice stroke. Unfortunately they lost the game because of a rain delay. Myrtle Beach looked good, and convinced me that the Braves still have one of the best farm systems in baseball.

Cardinals Pick Up Preston Wilson
For the Astros this is what we call a subtraction by subtraction move. You need hitting, and you give away a guy that can hit. And you wonder why Roger Clemens hasn't won 10 games yet...............

Sigh.. Johnson vs. Wang this afternoon
The Yankee rotation is sad but i bet when Yankee fans look at Boston's starters it makes them feel a lot better.

Red Sox Busy on the Trade Front
haha sox just got beaten silly by NY.

Andruw Jones
Marlins '03 thanks for clearing that up.

Update: Javy Lopez Acquired By Boston
Being an O's fan myself I wanted him gone. He complained even when the Orioles did play him. Nobody wanted him so that's why he wasn't traded. Luckily now the Sox have varitek down so maybe they're desperate enough to deal someone good away. Maybe the O's can package Luis Terrerro, who has also cleared waivers, and Javy for Wily Mo Pena. That probably wont happen but if the red sox get desperate, they might pull the trigger. That's a big MIGHT

Andruw Jones
are you serious!?!?!   but.................why would they do that? Put him on waivers i mean.

Sergio Mitre
Sounds right He deserves another chance, but i wouldn't waste my time on him.

A new nickname for Willis

Serious question about Big Papi...
I'm not talking down to you at all you started it with this: You have no idea what you are talking about do you? i don't follow the red sox so i don't know anything about big papi, but i know plenty about baseball i respect your knowledge of the game and thanks for straightening me out on this subject. alright? I'd expect you to stand up for your guy (I see papelbon there) I guess I'm just jealous that none of my teams have a big basher And yes, Ortiz is in his prime. Ok i was wrong ok?

Elijah Dukes
I also blame Tampa management for this, Young and Dukes should have started the year with the big club, come on they had Gathright in centre. These guys must look to the Marlins' centre field situation and want to scream, they know in almost any real organisation they would either be starting now or have been traded and starting elsewhere. Hopefully Tampa doesn't leave him to rot, and trades him to somewhere who may actually give a sh*t. I agree with you there Gathright shouldn't have started in center it's obvious that he can amount to nothing more than a Juan Pierre clone.

A new nickname for Willis
D-Train is kind of old, but it's still really cool and tons of people refer to him as that. Maybe that cereal Kix because of his high leg kick? otherwise i got nothing
-
Serious question about Big Papi...
Do you agree or disagree that Ortiz is quite a bit bigger than when he first came up? David didn't start jacking until he got to boston, and there have been multiple people (Paxton Crawford for example) who have juiced there while David was there at the same time. I highly doubt you even know who Paxton Craford is.

Josh Beckett Couldn't Be Happier
Beckett is only going to win so many games because he gets so much run support. If a guy like Nolasco or Willis had that support and his "reputation" they'd be Cy Young candidates. When Colon won it last year, I knew it wasn't about ERA............
