Who are the three insiders? edcanes, dawg31, and gobucks?
  2. Explain to me how a team that couldn't afford to keep Vlad, Vazquez, and possibly Livan is going to cave to Pudge's demands... Pudge to the 'spos is symbolic though, the orphan team with the orphan player... um the expos offered vlad a contract, i dont know the exact details, but i think it was 6 yrs/70 million, something like that. he didnt accept. (obviously)
  3. Why would we pay 10 million maddox for 15 wins when we could have kept redman (14 wins) for like 3 million? We need a good hitter not an expensive over the hill pitcher. so true
  4. Mave replied to Marlins04's topic in Miami Marlins
All the teams have improved dramitcally in the NL east except for the Expos and the braves went down losing Maddux, and sheffield. If we solify our Pen we will greatly compete again with the phillies. maybe i missed a news flash or something but.... we did NOT drastically improve this year.
  5. Does anybody have any photos from today's proposal? Did anybody watch the meeting on TV? If you did watch it, did they have photos or a model of the proposal? yes, i caught a report about the meeting today at city hall on the spanish channel and they showed some commisioner or whatever with a binder shwoing off pictures of some of the proposals.
Basically, the article says that Raul Mondesi is very close to signing a deal with the Marlins. However, it also says the the Orioles might be a possibility? Raul thinks he's pretty sure that he'll reach an agreement with the fish.
  7. Awesome! :thumbup
  8. good analysis armando needs to be HUGE.
  9. Exactly. And even if parking is cheap, the idea of parking in someone's backyard to see a Marlins game does not thrill me at all. Ugh, I'm just not digging the Orange Bowl as a site for the new stadium at all.
  10. ''This is where the Marlins should be,'' Valle said. ``Not in North Dade or Broward, but in Little Havana, where they are loved.'' Oh yes, Little Havana, a place where 95% of the Marlins fanbase lives. Yes.
  11. Awesome, what game if I may ask?
  12. haha i think some of you are exagerating on how "bad" the neighborhood the Orange bowl is in is. the neighborhood pro player is in is far worse. either way, i think the marlins playing at the orange bowl would be a disaster.
  13. the main thing that concerns me about the orange bowl is the whole parking ordeal. how will it workout?
  14. I truly hope that we try and re-sign Looper. He was awesome from April through August. But his sub-par September has led people to forget about that. It's obvious that Looper wore down at the end of the season because we were having to use him every night early in the season because he was our only reliable arm in the pen. Agreed. Braden Looper is a below average closer and an outstanding set-up man. Same goes for Fox. Hmmm, I can agree with most of that except I wouldn't go as far as calling Loop a below average closer, he's at least average.
  15. He did come up big for us sometimes though. I thought some people would care that we didn't sign him. Sorry, but I watched every game that we played from May on, and I never saw one appearance that made me think he would hold the lead. Fruit Loops loves to load the bases with one out or less, just so he can try to get out of the jam. Ugh... youre an idiot looper is a great arm, and was great all season up until the last few weeks in september. im guessing you expect lights out type performance out of looper, coming in every night and getting all 3 hitters out. there is only so many premiere lights out closers in the league, and then theres good solid closers. looper is definitely a good, solid closer. id love to have loop back, especially if we can somehow snag him as a set up man or something, i doubt it'd happen though.
  16. im not too sure about paytons stats with the mets, but i dont remember them being anything spectacular.
  17. if we dont sign vlad, guys like redman and looper and another bullpen arm must be signed. it would be a huge slap in the face if they dont sign vlad and let redman and looper go on top of that for "cheaper alternatives".
  18. Columnist Dean Juipe: Marlins are following familiar, demented course Dean Juipe's column appears Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday. His boxing notebook appears Thursday. Reach him at juipe@lasvegassun.com or (702) 259-4084.
  19. no, i think leiter's no no was against the giants
  20. Who's Freddy? Vlad's agent or something?
  21. I'll agree, Conine stays. But, I do think some of you are exagerating on his production in September.
  22. off rotoworld today: Although speculation was last night that the Orioles were very close to signing Ivan Rodriguez, it's still possible they'll end up with Javy Lopez. It was rumored that the Orioles would sign Rodriguez to a three-year contract with a base salary of $7 million a season and incentives that would allow Rodriguez to earn $10 million a year. However, two team sources told the Baltimore Sun said the club was still leaning toward Lopez because Rodriguez was asking for more than the Orioles wanted to spend. It appears certain that the team will get one of the two catchers. Vladimir Guerrero and Sidney Ponson also remain possibilities. Source: Baltimore Sun
  23. Argh, I hope this isn't true. We need EdCanes to chime in with some insider info or something and let us know if there is any kind of progress on the marlins side with Vlad. Also, wasn't there some kind of report earlier today saying that Vlad's agent was feeling under the weather and negoiations would not go on today or something to that effect? :\
  24. I think you read the article wrong. It says the Marlins offered him a contract o be a apart of the 03 Marlins team. Roger Clemens, who is considering cutting short his retirement to pitch in Houston, briefly considered an offer last December to take owner Jeffrey Loria's "special money" and pitch for the Marlins in 2003.
  25. It appears Beinfest has heard your cries about trading Redman to the Braves it appears the Braves about to sign former Dodger, D-Ray, and Giant LHP Wilson Alvarez. As for Looper, its looks more likely he's going stay....with alot Bullpen arm on market asking price a bit too high right for the Marlins Awesome!
