  1. Starters- This is where I see a huge upgrade over this season. We're probably keeping all of our pitchers from this year, and with all of them either still very young or at least relatively young, we should see them all improve. The two which I expect to see performing much better are Nolasco and Volstad, since they have been very unlucky this year. Amazingly, Volstad has the highest HR/FB% in the MLB, and Nolasco is .003 points away from having the highest BABIP in the MLB. Needless to say, I expect solid season from both of them next year, with Nolasco's ERA falling somewhere in between 3.5-4, and Volstad with an ERA from 4-4.5, with both having the ability to be even better than that. Johnson should continue to dominate, while whoever the other two starters are (Sanchez, West?) should at least be decent in 2010, if not better. Relievers- This is the hardest part to predict, since a bullpen can change dramatically every season. If we can put together just an average bullpen, then we would be in the same area as we were in 2009. To recap: Upgrades- Left, Right, SP Same- Catcher, Second, Third, Short, RP Downgrades- First Unknown- Center Which means that we should be a better team, in my opinion. I'd put our starters under "Unknown" as well. We could've said the same thing at the beginning of this year about how Volstad would be good and that is not what he's shown. And what makes you think Anibal will be better? You just don't know what to expect from these guys. Nolasco looks legit but even he has faltered. Our rotation is JJ, Nolasco, hopeforthebest, hopeforthebest, hopeforthebest Closer is non existent. If we don't keep JJ we're gonna be hurting.
  2. If the Marlins get rid of Josh Johnson they are complete fools. You can't keep dumping younger players and expect to ever build a consistent winner. Yeah. If they drop JJ I will be disappoint.
  3. We win tonite and we're still alive, albeit barely breathing. . As far as playing spoiler...that can be ok in the last few days. It's better than playing spoiler for 2 months. . But Atlanta is not a big rivalry. Beating them is not like beating the Phils, or the Mets(and their obnoxious fans). . When it comes down to it actually, I'd rather see the Braves over the Rockies in the playoffs, if it's not us. x2 We don't dislike the Braves like we do the Mets. I'll take the Braves over the Rockies in the postseason.
  4. Er, what would be the reason to shut JJ down for the year? To not risk an injury?
  5. That was awesome. I said "thank you, Cantu" over and over. They really needed to get past those bad strike calls, and they did. And then the walk off hit... wow, that was great.
  6. I find it funny to see how well Pedro Martinez, John Smoltz, and Brad Penny are pitching. funny or sad? At least Nick Johnson has worked out, even though he's been injured for a quarter of the time we'll have him.
  7. It was good while it lasted, but Friday's game did it for me. Think it was today's game for me. Lose 2 of 3 to the Nats in the last two weeks... Yeah, it was today's game.
  8. Sweeeeet game.. Exciting hits, an angry Matt Diaz, and a walk off HR. do you think it was intentional ? im not sure the hit on Diaz? Nope, no way.. looked like Tim Wood was having some control issues. Diaz always seems like a hothead, lol.

  10. It was this way last year so I wouldn't be surprised if that is the case. Comcast sure does suck.
  11. Lol! There was a different tune around here a couple weeks ago in terms of standings. If Marlins want to stay with the big boys, you guys better hope Miller produces and Nolasco turns it around. Johnson is becoming a bonafide ace but one man cannot carry a pitching for an ENTIRE season. Mutts forum is that way --------> this is a NL east thread. i hardly discuss the mets on MARLINSbaseball but since this a NL east thread, why not? meh, fair enough. But you ARE a Mutts fan. lol @ your sig

  13. But like Wild Blue said, A.J.'s for some Tally Marlins Watch Parties should be a lot of fun. We actually have a LOT of Tally members on this board. We would draw a big crowd. I am another one of us posting from Tally. Been able to see ZERO of the games on TV so far (my complex doesn't carry FSN OR SUN) so I've relied on sh*tty streams. Yes mad.
  14. I want Rays over Red Sox. Because I don't feel like rooting for either the Phillies or the Dodgers, I'll say that I don't care who wins their series, and then expect the Rays to beat them.
  15. I will be rooting for the Twinkies in this one, atleast to start the game. I have a problem that whenever I don't have any real feelings toward the teams playing I just end up rooting for the home team, so I might end up rooting for the ChiSox by the 3rd inning. Really? I tend to root for the underdog and that tends to be the visiting team.
  16. On the Phills broadcast they interviewed Rollins after the game and he paid respect to the fish.
  17. finally a win. i still think we're not going to make the playoffs but i'd rather see the phillies make it than the mets same. down with Mutts.
  18. I don't see this poll, but WOW that's brutal.
  19. It was a tough loss but it only counts as one game in the standings. Forget about it and try again tomorrow. Been saying that a lot lately!
  20. I didn't vote the last time I came to this thread, but I've made up my mind: "Bench his ass"
  21. I don't believe it, but if we really could have got Pudge for Lindstrom I would've been all over it.
  22. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dan_Uggla "...In his three at bats, he struck out twice and hit into a double play. He vomitted in the dugout during the 15th inning after striking out again." Truth?
  23. Really bad outing for Uggla, all errors by the fish. I think it was a confidence issue. He feels like one of the stars at home and one of the rookies in NY.
