Marlins, Reyes agree to 6 yr/106mil deal
Is there a way to get a Reyes jersey with the old Florida uniform?

Marlins, Reyes agree to 6 yr/106mil deal
How much difference is it for a free agent to sign with Miami and not pay state tax (as is my understanding as a non-Florida resident) as opposed to getting more money offered elsewhere but having to pay taxes on it? I keep hearing about Cespedes, but what about that Soler kid, the 19 year old outfielder? The endorsements alone going to a large market team make the income tax less of a factor.

Pujols to Angels
I kinda feel it was more like 9/170 or 9/180 and sources are overblowing the whole "way under 200" thing. But that's just a gut feeling. Even with the new stadium, I'm skeptical that the Marlins have over $150 to spend on one player, especially on one who is going to hit the wall before year nine. As commented in another thread, even if they have more than 150, should they spend it on a player who is going to hit a wall before year 9. If that player is Albert Pujols, yes. Pujols would put a lot of people in the seats and bring a ton of excitement to the Marlins. He would make Miami a desirable destination for other FAs who would now see coming to South Beach into a brand new retractable roof stadium, with fans in the seats and no income tax and a winning franchise. It would be a great investment for the future to create a winning brand.

6/7 Post Game
I'm taking a dump. You're taking a Marlins? Hahaha. This team has squandered great position in such a short period of time. If they don't get back on track quick the Division as well as the Wildcard will be so far gone that JJ and Hanley won't be able to make a difference.

The All-Time Marlins Team
What, no Ugueth Urbina for bullpen? Sheesh, you chase around your plantation workers with a machete, cover them in gasoline, and set them on fire for ONE offseason, and suddenly, an organization decides it's not a good thing to associate with you.... I can't believe I forgot about that. I was wondering why he wasn't on there.

Out-of-Town Bars for Marlins Fans?
I've never come across one personally. You'd be surprised though, NYC holds a large Latino community and the fish get represented pretty well through it. I don't know if you've ever been out to Citi field or Shea back in the day but there is a decent showing every time I go. Probably more fans total than go to our home stadium once the luster of opening week wears off.

4/2 Post Game
Regardless, that wasn't the point. Bonifacio isn't someone who changes the game with a swing of the bat. He's a bench player at best on any other team. Most teams he'd be a career double or triple A guy. And it wasn't a Stanton vs Replacement argument. Just saying Stanton is a threat every time at the plate. I PRAY Bonifacio doesn't embarrass the team anytime he takes the field. I'm sure the Mets would love to have Jason Bay, as well. Bottom line is, we lost. If we can't overcome an injury for a game or two, we have no business talking about playoff contention. And Bonifacio didn't only play well today, he was the best player on the field for us. His versatility off the bench is awesome for this team. This is how people were talking about him after his inside the park home-run opening day. He shows no consistency. I hope he proves me wrong, but I doubt it. My comment wasn't even meant to be a slight at Bonifacio for his obviously solid game today. All I was saying is that Stanton is a very important, potent run productive hitter in our lineup. Going to Infante, Ramirez, Sanchez.. from Infante, Ramirez, Stanton is a huge difference. Regardless of the bottom of the order and regardless of the defense. No trust me, I was never on the Bonifacio = Luis Castillo bandwagon, but I do like his versatility off the bench, especially on this team. His versatility is huge right now with the lack of bench depth/minor injuries. I agree. Just saying, I would have liked to have seen Stanton in the game today. I think we may have had that extra run produced before the 9th came.

Insert Stanton and this may very well have been a win. Because Bonfacio sucked today? 2/3, played really well in the field, and played 3 positions to bail out the Marlins with a short bench. No. Really? Bonifacio's bat vs. Stanton? Wow.. Bonifacio threw out someone who tripped at first. He has been a complete bum defensively for most of his career. If they don't bite as pups they won't bite as adults. This game was the exception for him.. not the rule.
