John Kruk: Loria was responsible for the 1997 firesale, too

um, you forget he owned Montreal and did the same kind of thing (except there it was a neverending firesale)

Wouldn't it be something if Girardi wins the MOTY and then gets fired. From what I've heard, Loria seems like a tool, so it wouldn't shock me if that happened.

I love John Kruk. It takes a real set of ball to say something like that on national TV.

Well were in a wild card team and where kicking ass I dont think we should be blaming anyone now we should be celebrating

Kruk has been saying that since Sunday...so much for ESPN research.

lmao....the thing that is the funniest is that the firesales were SMART! They landed us 1 ring quickly and maybe a playoff berth the next year!

Dude..... That shiznit is f***ed up!!! But it's funny as hell.

No offense to anyone with nut cancer.

:lol

The term "nut cancer" is the funniest politically incorrect choice of words ever.

He'd probably get more fans in Florida during a hurricane than in Montreal on the night of a Canadiens game.

Everyone down there - stay safe.

I believe you mean the Expos :thumbup .

The Montreal Canadiens are sold out every single night and Habs home games have one of the best atmosphere's in pro sports.

Kruk was never the sharpest tool in the shed, so it doesn't surprise me in the least.

Kruk makes slips like this often but I still like him. He was a blue collar player that overcame a pretty big obstacle to stay in the game. Lowell is the same, without the beer drinking. LOL His knowledge of the game because he was that kind of player is priceless but he should really stay away from trying to decipher and commenting on the other things surrounding the game.

Incorrect. Local owners bought the team in the early 90s and tore it apart - ruining relationships with fans, local businesses, broadcasters and politicians to the point that the Montreal market could not overcome the future TV and luxury suite baseball structure that was forthcoming - before appointing Loria chairman of the board in the late 90s. The only destructive act Loria played a significant hand is was destroying the interests of these owners when they refused to fund the team.

No he meant the Canadiens impact upon Expos attendance is greater than a named storm's impact upon Marlins attendance.
