Marlins fans would you make this trade...

Featured Replies

I ask this because I think there are a lot of true fans on this forum but reality seems to elude them at times...

Would you trade Miguel Cabrera straight up for Ryan Howard?

I'll hang up and listen.

:shifty

and let las barbaridades begin

Ya honestly my only argument is the age, and I'm thinking it's not really that big of a deal right now...Still tough as hell to decide on that. I'd like to see Ryan do this for another year or two before committing. Miguel IS Mr. Consistency, and it feels like he gets better every year.

No way in hell.

Miguel is a better hitter overall then Howard, plays in a huge Pitchers park instead of hitters paradise. Has better defense as well. Plus he is younger.

No

no...here is why...howard...is exetremely hot right now...the league hasnt adjusted yet...they will...as where...cabs has been in the league a while now...the league has figured him out a bit and is still a rediculously good hitter

very nicely put :thumbup

Miguel is younger and is consistent. This is not to say Howard is not a good hitter because he is, but Miguel has shown he can put up very good numbers year in and out.

No.

Miguel could hit the same amount of homers if he wanted to, but thats not the most important thing to him. He has stated this.

Like stated, he plays in a big ole pitchers park, which takes away some homers.

And Howard sucks defensively.

We are better off with Miguel Cabrera, especially when first base is easier to find a masher than at third base.

It will be interesting to see if Miguel Cabrera will ever become that dominant power hitter

I believe he can, but what Ryan Howard is doing in only his second year is absolutely amazing

Would I do the trade right now?

No freakin way.

Ask me again though in 2 years and I'll get back to you. Could be a whole new ballgame then.

Yes, that's the answer I should have said

Give me two years.

Miggy could hit the cover off the ball and hit around .300 if that's what he wanted to do (for the record, I think he probably should until we put someone around him).

To me, they're incredibly similar players, but Cabrera has the same offensive potential if he readjusted his priorities. Plus, you factor in age and I'll just keep our guy.

No way in hell.

THANK YOU!

I am someone willing to trade anyone.

But would you trade Albert Pujols for Mark McGwire in his prime?

To me thats Cabrera vs Howard.

Both great...Cabrera is the better hitter. Howard the better slugger.

I wouldn't because Howard hasn't proven he can do this year in and year out. The argument about Miggy being in a pitcher's park is valid, but look at what Howard did against us down here. He tore the cover off the ball, hitting 3 homeruns. I don't think this park could contain him. He'd undoubtedly have less homeruns if JRS was his home park, but not by much..

I'm with the guys that say give me 2 or 3 years before I can answer this. But for right now, I say a definite no.

Yes

Howard is just ridiculous.

He is hitting everything close to the strike zone out of ANY ballpark. Right, left and center.

Howard is having an incredible season, Cabs is having an incredible career. No I wouldnt make that trade because as previously described Cabs is younger and he may never hit 58 homers but he will hit .320 get 35-40 homers and 120 RBIs for the next 15 years. He will be a very good 3rd baseman as well
