July 23, 200817 yr The fan poll on SportsCenter featured the question, "Who will win the NL East?" The Phillies got about 44%. The Mets got about 42%. The Marlins got about 14%. I kinda liked seeing that. Discuss
July 23, 200817 yr No, I still think the Nats are least likely to win the East. /sarcasm But seriously, who cares what everyone else thinks?
July 23, 200817 yr Of course that's how the poll turned out. It's on ESPN.com, for crying out loud. I'd rather go under the radar at this point. Nobody thought we could do it in '97 and '03.
July 23, 200817 yr it has nothing to do with espn... it has to do with people around the country hasn't seen this team play, that and all the transplanted new york and philadelphia fans... who cares
July 23, 200817 yr yea, F*** them all. By october the poll will be who will win the world series, Marlins or pick-your-team.
July 23, 200817 yr it has nothing to do with espn... it has to do with people around the country hasn't seen this team play, that and all the transplanted new york and philadelphia fans... who cares That, and when they did get the oppertunity to see our All-Stars, we went 2-7 and committed all 4 errors made by the NL. Fooled them all, we did, the'll never see us coming *cue JAWS theme music*

Hanley had a pretty good day (dispite the one error), however, he wasn't the only Marlin out there, and I was refering to the Marlin presence as a whole and what the national audience took from the game, and unfortunitely, I think Uggla probably got a lot more attention then Hanley did.
July 23, 200817 yr First of all, every Marlins victory is a slap in the face of baseball analysts, professional squawkers and general all-around know-it-alls who belittled, ridiculed and wrote off the $22 million Marlins as sure to be the worst team in baseball. So even now while ESPN and others are forced to cover the team, it's begrudgingly and generally with as little effort as possible. And this rubs off on viewers nationwide. When you combine that with mega-baseball markets like NYC and Philly, the outcome is predictable and doesn't bother me at all. It'll be interesting to see if the poll is repeated in the weeks ahead and if we continue to do well how may converts come over from the dark side to to join us in our fight for truth, justice and the American way. :brigginbounce

July 23, 200817 yr Wining games despite having the worst fielding percentage and worst ERA for our starters------- good Surprising just about everyone with our offense without Cabrera------------------------------------ fantastic Getting Volstad and welcoming back JJ and Sanchez in mid-season and going to the play-offs----priceless
July 23, 200817 yr Oh noes, this is relevant information that effects the division race! Yes, we have to watch out for those Montana voters, they'll be sure to foil the Marlins' chances at the division! We must stop them! Aqua Teen Hunger Force, assemble!
