I've been tired of Lindstrom for a while, and if it weren't for a 5 run lead, he would have blown another save tonight. Nunez is on and off and makes me really uneasy, like Gregg did. We've got solid middle relief, but our closer situation is not gonna fly should we make the playoffs. Is there still a chance of getting Heath Bell from the Padres? I know there were talks at the deadline, but I guess we couldn't settle on a deal.

Any chance of still getting him or anyone else?

The only name closer I can think of is Billy Wagner.

Other than that, moderate RP may slip through, but nothing major.

nunez is doing a fine job and heath bell would never pass through waivers without someone claiming him ahead of us

Dan's error didn't help Matt and Leo has been pretty good. Wagner is interesting though.

Matt Lindstrom isn't our closer. Leo Nunez is.

Matt Lindstrom wasn't in a save situation tonight, so he wasn't going to blow a save.

No way we get Heath Bell. Someone will surely claim him before we do.

Cross your fingers and hope for the best.

But if our lead was less, say 3 runs or less, then Lindstrom wouldn't of pitched in the game as Nunez is our current closer.

With Nunez being 9 for his last 9 in save opportunities, Fredi has to let him continue to close out games. Now is not the time, deep in the race to the playoffs to be chopping and changing closers.

OMG.

Nunez has done a fine JOB!

Now is not the time to be swapping out out closers. Nunez dose not have a blown save yet.

He's 12 for 15 in save ops.

So, yeah, he does.

my bad.

But I still think he deserves the job.

I think we have enough options in our bullpen already to be honest.

yep. If Leo needs to be the 9th inning guy, you've still got Meyer, Calero, Donnelly to use in 7th/8th/late jams. That should still be sufficient. And you've got Pinto when needed and & Sanches whenever. I'd still like to see Lindstrom used sparingly until they feel more comfortable about him.

Guys those of you with insider, whose available for trade via the waiver wire, ideally a 7th or 8th inning guy? Any RP/MR worth looking at? Can someone drop some names.

You don't need insider. And the relief pitchers available go as follows, Miguel Batista, Juan Cruz, Ron Mahay, Ron Villone, Mark Hendrickson (:D).

This is the list most people would like to have, but most likely wouldn't pass through waivers

Chad Qualls

Heath Bell

Jason Frasor

We don't need another RP, and no need to trade for the sh*t that is available.

That's not actually right. None of his three blown saves were in save opportunities. They were all hold opportunities in the 7th or 8th.

He's 12/13, with one win where he would have had a blown save if the Fish hadn't won in the bottom of the 9th.

if we get get a nother good arm to replace pinto

Just thought I'd bring this back up again... Leo Nunez makes me uneasy... last night he got away with a balk, tonight he did not get away with a 1 out double...

Why do people still not like Pinto? He's a solid enough lefty reliever who is particularly effective against righties.

Pinto?

wow. Nunez let me down tonight.

This was Leo Nunez' 4th appearance in the last 5 games. He probably has been a tiny bit overworked as of late, probably had an impact on that final inning. Nothing to worry about, Nunez will be fine.

The Marlins need to keep Lindstrom away from the mound, unless the lead in 5 or more runs.

I'm not really fond of Pinto, either. Walks way to many batters, and has a tendency to make things much harder on himself. He does have good stuff, though. And if he can ever figure how to control his pitches better, he can be really good.

For the record, Pinto was on tonight. He had what, a 5 pitch inning?

career whip: 1.41

this season: 1.49

that's why I don't like him
