Option A is one of the best pinch-hitters in baseball. Option B is a guy who's a below average hitter that has struggled mightily in sac bunt situations this year.

Option A is one of the best relievers on the team. Option B has struggled both with the Marlins and in the minors, this year.

Fredi chooses...Option B!

And then there were other moves like not pinch-running for Nick Johnson / using Christhian Martinez in a close game, with much better relievers available, that really had no impact on the game...

And this guy makes millions? Managers...oh how I wish I had their job.

Fredi will be nominated manager of the year.

Yeah, you know what I try to give Freddi the benefit of the doubt a lot of times and look the other way, but after putting in Bonerface for Uncle Wes tonight, I'm on the Fire Freddi Bandwagon for good.

lol yeah man. Freddi just has no clue what to do when he has to make a crucial decision betwen two options. My God, anybody can use common sense to choose any of Helms or Gload (two of the best pinch hitters around) or not to put freaking Miller into a game we're trying to win....fredi fredi fredi, come on man.

By the way Tommy, you can cut the crap. The only reason Josh Johnson didn't go six innings tonight is b/c Fredi/the organization is being cautious with him. Don't blame the starter tonight for not going 6 innings b/c he easily could have.

JJ is not to blame.

Yeah I think it's time to realize that Bonifacio can't sacrifice bunt.

Where's everybody?

Well, I guess in deep sh*t and a bad mood, I don't blame'em.

You can tell Bonifacio was gonna fail when he chased that pitch in the ground.

Hell even if fredi didn't want to use Wes he could have used Boni to run and Carrol to bunt or gaby. I'm sure both Gaby and Carrol are better at laying one down.

Gaby had already been used.

Speaking of guys who probably would've had a better chance though...Andy Gonzalez.

Anyways, it's ridiculous to give up the out in that situation, anyways. MacDougal was wild, and we had one of the best pinch-hitters in baseball this year, still available.

This is the truth (you know how I know).

I've defended Fredi more than once this year, but pinch hitting Bonifacio for anyone is right there on the list of worst moves a manager can make. Absolutely pathetic. :thumbdown

Whoops I ment Andy.

I cried a bit on the inside when Bonifacio came up to the plate in the 9th...

You know... kinda like when you taste the food you ate a few hours ago after you burp? That feeling.

I have been saying it for the longest time, Fredi is meh! We are supposedly in a pennant race and why has he not tried to use Gabby Sanchez once even if it is as a pinch hitter. Fredi is so unimaginative and actually boring as a manager

somebody bump the fire fredi thread! this guy is never gonna see himself managing another MLB club in his life maybe not even college this guy sucks!

Team RISP: 0-8. When will this idiot learn that he CAN NOT allow our players to get into scoring position? It's just a recipe for failure. Anyone can see that.

And while we are on the topic of finger pointing.....Where exactly was Bo and Andy during all this?? Probably counting the fans in the seats.

I'm still amazed at what I saw in the 9th inning last night. First of all, intentionally trying to give a struggling pitcher an out is beyond me. Second, to choose possibly the worst bunter on the team to try to accomplish that?!?! I'm not usually a fan of blaming the manager for a lot of things, but that was one of the dumbest decisions I have seen in years.

I like Fredi, always have, I think he connects with the players well and he really loves the game...

That being said...

WOW! I left last night's game one of the BIGGEST Fredi hater period!!!!! Don't get me wrong, hes pushed some right buttons this year in some cases and I applaud him for that but its UNREAL what it did last night. Im still in shock and its the next morning. I mean he just GAVE that game away. I would love to hear his reasoning for putting in the worst player in the MLB.

With all that being said, theres 1 person I hate more that Fredi, his name... Emilio Bonifacio! Whether or not Fredi made the bad choice he still should have got the job done and that gets lost in all this

, exactly. If the team actually stepped up when needed, we wouldn't be going so low as to blame the manager when things go wrong.

People complaining about taking JJ out, were you not watching the last two or three starts when he has been great for 5 innings in a row and implodes in the 7th? We have a large amount of long relief pitchers, it was the right move given the situation we are in to take out JJ.

Seriously, Fredi's got to stop being used as the scapegoat when our players don't come through.

This thread is mostly about Fredi's use of Binofacio in a no out situation with runners on 1st and 2nd. My only reasoning for Fredi's decision is that if Bonifacio gets a good bunt down that leaves runners in 2nd and 3rd for CC or NJ (If CC makes a clean out). But like everyone else is saying, there should have been someone else up there who can put the ball into play instead of striking out.

I tell you, the crowd was so pissed yesterday. Everyone was so pumped at the rally after Uggla's homerun. I just don't understand the decision. Someone needs to ask Fredi so we can know the damn answer.

someone needs to FIRE FREDI

Obviously he wasn't solely responsible for the loss...........but it's ridiculous that he has made several such horribad decisions. At this point, actual wins and losses are super-magnified, but you still need to be making the best decisions at all possible points, and he, simply put, did not do that last night and has had various other significant mistakes this year.
