Fredi Gonzalez is a good manager.

Team RISP: 0-8. When will this idiot learn that he CAN NOT allow our players to get into scoring position? It's just a recipe for failure. Anyone can see that.

And while we are on the topic of finger pointing.....Where exactly was Bo and Andy during all this?? Probably counting the fans in the seats.

Stop trying to change the subject. The point is that when there are things that Fredi CAN CONTROL, he fails. And really, this decisions are often very simple. We EXPECT players to fail most of the time, that's how baseball works. You SHOULD know that. But Fredi was faced with an INCREDIBLY SIMPLE decision.

I said two years ago that this guy was a joke as a manager, and now people are seeing why.

Oh wait, I forgot, Bob is one of those Bonifacio apologists.

, exactly. If the team actually stepped up when needed, we wouldn't be going so low as to blame the manager when things go wrong.

People complaining about taking JJ out, were you not watching the last two or three starts when he has been great for 5 innings in a row and implodes in the 7th? We have a large amount of long relief pitchers, it was the right move given the situation we are in to take out JJ.

Seriously, Fredi's got to stop being used as the scapegoat when our players don't come through.

So we should not praise him when they come through.

Hey, Rab.

Remember when I said there would be a fire fredi thread after tonight? And I didn't even watch the game!

I turned the TV off once I saw EB walking to the plate. WHY send a pos when you can send at least 2 other decent pinch hitters? If you want to sacrifice, then send someone WHO CAN ACTUALLY BUNT (which to me wasn't a good decision anyways. Maybe if we were down by 1 at the time, but not when behind by three.) It was just a pathetic decision. Too bad we can't tell how many games we've won/lost because of this clowns decisions although we can all guess we've lost more than won.

Didn't watch the game last night but was following on my phone. When I saw boni bat, I slapped my head while at the movies, lol. Not the best move fredi....

For those of you who weren't watching the game last night, even Tommy was pretty much at a loss for words once Bonifacio was sent up. Actually, I take that back, it was clear he had words, he just wasn't allowed to say them on the air.

perhaps a *WTF is fredi doing*?

Yeah, this. I had the same reaction, except I was at dinner and not at the movies haha.

i didnt see the game last night but when i saw the highlights, i rewinded (thank you tivo)

and i said...why is emilio batting!!!

Im never going to like him, ever.

Should have been a W.

I would have been less mad if Bonifacio was actually batting. At least then I could have thought he might have some kind of history with the pitcher or Freddi had a gut feeling (those that don't believe in such, too bad) or anything.

I can picture Bob Eucker in the booth saying that

This thread is mostly about Fredi's use of Binofacio in a no out situation with runners on 1st and 2nd. My only reasoning for Fredi's decision is that if Bonifacio gets a good bunt down that leaves runners in 2nd and 3rd for CC or NJ (If CC makes a clean out). But like everyone else is saying, there should have been someone else up there who can put the ball into play instead of striking out.

I tell you, the crowd was so pissed yesterday. Everyone was so pumped at the rally after Uggla's homerun. I just don't understand the decision. Someone needs to ask Fredi so we can know the damn answer.

That's the head scratcher, just not the way you are putting it. Boni is one of the guys I like to see in that situation. He will most likely put the ball in play and beat out the DP leaving us with runners at the corners and 1 out. Most likely. That part I fully understood. It's when he squared to bunt that I got lost. For whatever reason, the guy just can not lay one down with RISP. I would much rather let him take his cuts and see if he can cause something else to happen. Like an error because of a rushed play and/or throw. Even a hit and run would have been much better.

But that 0-fer-8 really sticks out glaringly.

Oh wait, I forgot, Bob is one of those Bonifacio apologists.

??? Way to read one thing and come away with something totally different.

Oh, wait. I forgot this poster is one of those that always sees nothing but the dark side and then gloats when something bad happens. Nice way to go through life.

Oh wait, I forgot, Bob is one of those Bonifacio apologists.

I think hes the only one.

So by pointing out that the team went 0 fer 8 with RISP I'm being an apologist for Boni?

Some posters need to look at the whole picture instead of finger pointing to one particular person when things don't go their way.

No, the fact that you defend Boni no matter what is why you're a Boni apologist

I've been saying it, and I'll continue to say it. Freddi is the worst manger the Marlins have ever had.

No he isn't. He may be bad, but he is not that bad....

He can lay down a bunt, he just can't square a bunt. I think Tommy was pointing it out, he should have gone to the plate trying to bunt for a hit, because he is better at that. Personally, for the same reasons as you, I didn't mind him being up there (to bunt, either), but when he squared up I did a face palm.

He will most likely put the ball in play and beat out the DP leaving us with runners at the corners and 1 out. Most likely. That part I fully understood

That makes 0 sense to me. You're basically saying you want Bonifacio to hit a GB but beat it out. So it's the same situation (first and third), but an extra out, and a different runner on first.

So, pinch run with Bonifacio instead. Now he's at first. No out needed.

I've been saying it, and I'll continue to say it. Freddi is the worst manger the Marlins have ever had.

Lets just say I'd bring John Boles back

And yet I don't. Just because you don't read entire posts or opt to ignore them dosen't mean I haven't said things.

I didn't like Boni bunting in that situation but that didn't lose us the game. 0 fer 8 with RISP did. Cantu popping out with runners on first and 2nd and then Baker hitting into that DP did. Boni striking out with runners on 1st and 2nd and then Coghlin hitting into a DP did.

It wasn't Fredi and it wasn't Boni. It was the team at fault for this loss. Finger pointing is just childish for a game like this. You guys want to call me an apologist because I don't go the finger pointing way? Fine with me. But I will continue to point out why you are so (dare I say it??) wrong.

Not exactly. I'm saying if he was the one chosen to PH then I would rather have him swing away instead of squaring up. I like our chances better that way. Either we end up with runners at the corners with one out, or a better case, a forced error and the bases loaded where a double ties the score. Best case he gets a hit. I have more confidence that he won't be hitting into a DP than I do most others on the team. He's not the one I would have put up there in that situation, but there he was.

And you don't bury a guy that fast behind someone else with that type of scenario. Takes away the speed factor. And there are only a couple guys on the team I would have him PR for at 2nd in that situation because I question if they could score on a single. They weren't there.
