5/8 Post Game

Marlins win and avoid the sweep, 8-0

W: Sanchez (2-1)

L: Hernandez (3-4)

2B: G Sanchez 2 (8); G Dobbs (3); C Coghlan (9)

HR: G Sanchez (5)

Great game by Gaby and another impressive day for Greg Dobbs... him and Boni are phasing Omar out at this rate.

But can't go against Anibal.. what a great outing.

Sanchez was the name of the game today, both played excellent, and imagine if Anibal could do this on a consistent basis.

As far as Gaby I would like to see him at the All-Star game if not for Votto or I would think Sanchez would have a good chance to start but I still think he could still back up Votto but thats nor here or there.

The deal with Hanley move him out of the 3 spot when LoMo comes back we can probably manage without him especially if LoMo picks up his torrid pace he was on while healthy.

Realistically maybe put him leading off (I know not everyone agrees with this) sarcastically put him in the 8th spot until he starts hitting the ball again.

Big series with the Phillies coming up lets take at least 2.

We won! Anibal was dealing with a career high 11 strike outs. Another almost-no-hitter. Gaby, Dobbs, and Cogs were great today..let's hope they continue. Hanley...sigh...anyway good game today on Mother's Day.

Bring on the Phillies!

good hitting and good pitching.

still disappointed that we lost the series as we should have take game 1.

gotta play well against the phillies and get morisson back quick.

Man, when he (Hanley) hit that ball that was almost a homer, I knew that he would be an out after that. I wish that would have stayed fair, only for his mental state. Otherwise, great game.

Sanchez season line after today:

41.2 Innings, 3.46 ERA, 1.34 WHIP, 43 Ks (9.3 K/9), 3.7 BB/9, .86 HR/9.

That's more like it. Our top 3 is awesome.

Hanley with some bad luck today.. had some good swings

Is it just me or has Hanley already come out of this slump in a mechanical sense?

Meaning, I know he's still having trouble getting hits but as of late it seems like much more bad luck than bad swings. If I'm Edwin and Mallee, I'm encouraging him to keep this up and within the next few days you'd imagine things just start falling in place.

Great game today.

Hoping we can take 2/3 from the Phils.

Not unlikely if we get a break here or there. I think Vazquez's start is soooo important to set the tone though. You'd hate to be blown out leading into Halladay AND Lee. And in the Phillies' eyes, theyd hate to lose to Vazquez knowing that they have JJ next. And if JJ destroys them, Ricky is the best #2 vulture in baseball as he would pick up the scraps on Wednesday.

Both were great.

The thing about Dobbs and Boni pushing Infante is that Infante is that Infante is also an excellent utility guy, so it doesn't put us at a deficit to use Infante that way if Boni and Dobbs keep playing well.

hopefully vazquez can pull his head out of his ass and pitch well

And maybe its just me but I realllly feel like Vazquez is *this close* to having a few great games, I'd love to see him start that tomorrow

I agree with this... I was thinking about that earlier, wouldn't be surprised if he came out and pitched a great game...

Well, we have Vazquez against (likely) Blanton, so the odds aren't that stacked against us. It's not the end of the world if we can't get a series win, but what the team needs right now is a statement that we're here to stay this season, and if we get two wins, if Hanley can find his way out of his slump with an exclamation point or something happens on that level, it should be a boost that puts the Marlins a few notches above the teams of recent years that hang around in April long enough to get the "ARE THE MARLINS FOR REAL?!" ESPN stories and then kind of fade away. Not that some of them were bad, but they lacked certain pushes to get them over the top. A series win here would definitely be a good push.

Marlins got some monmuteum or however you spell it going into Philly series now.

20-13 on the year...

Sorry to disappoint, no such thing.

He has the worst WHIP among starters in all of baseball; it's not like he's just been unlucky. I don't see him breaking out anytime soon, unfortunately. I hope I'm wrong.
