C.J. Wilson to Angels

Featured Replies

Not a fan of going 6 years on him.

I know he'll be 31 next year, but he's only thrown 700 ML Innings in his career, from age 24-30, with no other stints in the minors during that time. His arm might be a lot younger than it seems. Not exactly sure the conversion rate from relief innings to SP innings, though.

Also... what ever happened to Yoennis?

Not a FA yet.

I believe the last report from his agent was he wanted more than 60MM?!? Fudge that.

Still leery of a 6 year deal for a SP. I do like that Wilson doesn't have much mileage on his arm though.

I'd take 6 years of Wilson over 10 of Pujols any day. We'd be unloading CJ and Reyes at the same time - and I think that's just in time to extend Stanton and LoMo, right?

C.j is using us too, trying to get more money out of the angels

I dont see the Angels matching it with the rotation they have. C.J. is an ace, I dont have any question about that, but he pitched poorly in the post season and it´s a converted reliever. This has depressed his market value. He has a much higher ceiling than Buehrle so I hope it happens.

But don't forget he is a California native and there has been speculation he wants to play there, this could become a factor in his decision.

There was an article last week saying he would hit free agency "any day now", so who knows exactly.

WRONG THREAD. YOU FAIL.

I'm a doctor. I know what's best.

That's probably why we threw six years at him when the Angels reportedly offered five years. The way to get him to rethink his desire to play in California is to overpay him.

This may very well be the case, I also don't see any other team going 6 years on CJ, this may be in the bag.

At this point, though, we might want to look at signing Buehrle as well just so the Nats don't get him. He's bound to make things more difficult for us as a Nats starter than anywhere else.

Beau Jones didn't use us either (I think...).

I'm still waiting for his press conference.

Six years on C.J. Wilson, huh? The Marlins really are like the lottery winners who spend themselves back into poverty within a couple years.

And I'd say that for any team offering a 31-year-old pitcher of his caliber six years. For Cliff Lee, it's one thing. C.J. Wilson ain't Lee.

I praised the Reyes signing. I thought it was great. Six years on a pitcher of Wilson's caliber and three on Bell is not smart.
