C.J. Wilson to Angels

You guys are ridiculous. 10 years for Pujols is fine but 6 for Wilson is crazy? They're overpaying Wilson, but they were grossly overpaying Pujols - and his contract was potentially more detrimental.

I think everyone felt deep down that 10 years is ridiculous, but at the same time it's Albert friggin Pujols so it's tough to hate it.

I think we all knew the Pujols contract was insane but really didn't care because its Albert Pujols.

Picking up CJ and Buehrle would be huge.

Its going to take me a while to get used to CJ's "straight edge" persona though....

That's going to make him my favorite Marlin. I'm going to enjoy that so much.

Pujols had the whole milestone, I'm Albert Pujols, people are going to come to the stadium because of him thing.

All in all, it's just as risky. Giving pitchers 6+ year deals normally doesn't work, historically. And I'm not at all sure that C.J. Wilson is that guy; he's just taking advantage of a weak SP market, at this point.

I'd say Pujols' contract was about 4 years and 90 million dollars riskier. I believe that any presence this ballclub has in Miami past year 1 will come out of winning and winning consistently, and Albert Pujols probably won't help that past a few years. CJ Wilson maybe won't towards the end of his contract, but we'll be able to cut him loose quicker.

People make Miami out to be this big event town and, while I don't doubt it is, we can't discount winning. I'd say part of the reason why it's a football town is because the football team was consistently competitive for a long time, not because it's the flashiest one in the NFL.

The Rangers, Angels and Marlins appear to be the most likely candidates, but he still does not know where he will play next season. Wilson said “I have not made a decision. I’m still considering. It’s like I’m being torn in different directions.

Hijo de... TAKE THE MONEY. TAKE THE MONEY, STOP WITH THE CALIFORNIA CRAP.

If we sign Wilson and also destroy Lozano's leverage, I would be so happy.

In fact, I wouldn't be surprised if part of the Pujols hold-up is that the Cardinals are waiting to see if the Marlins will pull out of the sweepstakes and leave them the top dog.

Even though Pujols/Lazagna has been using us the entire time.. that'd be pretty shady by the Cards... wouldn't it?

Anyone remember this story from 2008?

The Chicago-Texas series arrived this week with a little extra intrigue, in the form of a budding feud between the Rangers' closer and the White Sox manager.

In this corner: C.J. Wilson, aspiring novelist, Taoist, movie critic, Guitar Hero devotee and a California free spirit in the Barry Zito mold.

Wilson

Guillen

In the other corner: Ozzie Guillen, former All-Star shortstop-turned-World Series skipper, old-school guy, beat writer's best friend and serial provocateur.

During a recent series in Arlington, Guillen ripped Wilson for his demeanor on the mound. He called Wilson "cocky" and accused him of lacking "class" and showing up Chicago's hitters......

Apparently Wilson is on his way to Dallas, so something may happen before the night is over. Unlike Alberta....

Coming 2nd place while bidding the most on 2 top FA's is going to really hurt...

We signed Jose Reyes.

I have a goldfish!

I feel like we are gonna be used by Wilson. Everything I hear is he wants to stay on the west coast.
