Ozzie suspended 5 games

Featured Replies

The way this has been overblown by the media and politicians is completely ridiculous. I know it is an election year, but to use this story as a way to gain some votes is distasteful. Calling for Ozzie's dismissal by Commissioner Martinez for a few votes is a poor political move, and shows Commissioner Martinez can not read a few lines and tell Ozzie's comment had an unintended effect, and he probably did not express himself the way he wanted to. It's clear Ozzie can express himself better in Spanish and he most likely misstated a few words in his comments, but that is no reason for a dismissal. Ozzie "shoots from the hip" when he comments on things, and hopefully will learn a few lessons from this. But the way this is being portrayed by the media and politicians is very disappointing to me. Castro is a terrible person who has caused much harm, Ozzie knows that and never said he supported him or his philosophy and actions, he simply highlighted the fact that Castro has resisted so many entities attempting to remove him from power. Get over it and let's play some baseball.

this put more drama on showtime show

My main issue is the Hitler comparison (especially used by ESPN) which is no where near based in reality

Any reference to Hitler is only valid in the context of Castro killing millions of people. 2 million will probably turn out to be very low. Reminiscent of the leftist idiots who didn't think that Stalin had killed anyone, yet it turned out that 30+ million died between his purges and collectivizations and the ensuing starvation.

Check back in 20 years when Fidel and Raul are long-dead, Cuba is again free and the truth of the Castros' murderous brutality finally comes out.

So we're supposed to ignore academic studies in favor of your prediction about what we'll find out in 20 years? And then be mocked for doing so?

Cute, but you know what I meant by "region" (Central/S America). And just cause there is a "form of democracy" doesn't exclude the government being autocratic.

Region?

C'mon. Cuba is 90 miles from the US. Its "region" is the Caribbean. If you meant Central/South American, you should have said so.

There are no autocratic governments in the Caribbean, by using the modifier "form" of democracy I was allowing for Commonwealth parliaments.

The only autocratic "democracies" in Central/South America are Venezuela, Nicaragua, Bolivia, Ecuador and Argentina. All run by leftists.

Ha. This cabron is such a hack.

Anyways I'm glad it's only 5 games. Hopefully in 10 days this will all be behind us.

Yes. Never underestimate the ability of totalitarians to break eggs while they're busy making utopian omelets.

And never credit "academic" studies of anything to do with any communist government, they've all been wrong. In the '80s, even our own CIA estimated that the economy of the USSR was about equal in size to that of the US. Turned out it was about 10% as large.

Oops.

You know so little about latin america.

Thanks to the pussification of this country and the joke that is the 1st amendment, because so many idiots cannot take sarcasm or take something out of context, we will be managed poorly for 5 games. Thats cool

You know so little about latin america.

Since you're apparently an expert, why don't you enlighten us about exactly why anything I said was incorrect?

IDK about managed poorly, I'm sure Ozzie will leave some sort of unreadable managing instructions to Joey Cora, which will be misconstrued as a plot to take over the country.

Anyways, really, it's just 5 games, still early in the year, we'll be fine. Sure, he shouldn't have been suspended at all, but, whatever, 5 games? No big deal.

Can you explain what you mean about the 1st amendment? I don't see the connection. Also, Joey Cora will be fine, I'm sure.

Cuba and Latin America are synonymous hence the region I was referring too encompasses central/south america. I was also talking historically.

Other then that I'm done. We agree it's time to move on. Go fish.

You know so little about latin america.

I won't start a new debate here. But I'll say a couple of things.

I never said that I'm an expert. Though I live here, in Argentina. I studied here. So I might know a little more than you, showing that your statement is:

The only autocratic "democracies" in Central/South America are Venezuela, Nicaragua, Bolivia, Ecuador and Argentina. All run by leftists

First, why "democracies"? Are those countries less democratic than others?

Are just "leftists" governments autocratic democracies?

Or "rightists" are just about ok?

If so, you forgot to mention Uruguay, run by former Tupamaro leftist guerrilla terrorist assassin José Mujica.

If you have time, I can explain you how each country of Latin America is run.

Where is that thin line that a presidential system it starts to be considered autocratic?

Don't forget about Chile. A unitarian state. Where Pinochet modify the constitution. It's impossible for a third party to get on the Congress.

I find it funny how alot of people are saying stupid politicians, are these the same stupid guys and gals who voted to use the taxpayers money to give loria his stadium, we can't have it both ways, when we want something they are great, otherwise they are stupid. oh yes.

Damn, I'm half-Cuban and my family ran from Cuba so that I can live. Castro is a SOB of the tallest order, but Ozzy was just saying what many people say, even I've said it to my friends before. Castro is like a f***ing cockaroach, you can't kill his ass, he's outsmarted the USA for how many years? That's all Ozzy was saying.

The US is the wealthiest nation on earth, and Cuba is dirt poor. Someone outsmarted someone for sure, but I think you got the order wrong. Castro destroyed Cuba to the point that they are virtually stuck in the 1950s, and the only way out of that mess is for Cuba to turn away from Castro's revolution.

Fidel got curb stomped.

People are either all good or all stupid?

I'm sorry to all my fellow cubans but if you took offense to this you are a 1st degree idiot and I'll tell it to your face. A suspension for this in such a cruicial season is total BS although it could have been worse and he could have been fired although he was mis-quoted. All he said was that he has respect for a man that has survived all these incoming attacks in the last 60 year, and that he couldnt believe the "son of a *****" was still alive. How is that offensive? Please tell me......? People need to grow up and LETS PLAY BALL!!!!!!!!!

You are talking out of your ass and I wish you would stop. There has been no mass starvation in Cuba that could account for "millions" of dead as a result of Castro. I don't know why you continue to assert something that you obviously have no way of sourcing. When Castro's misdeeds are exaggerated, it discredits his enemies.

& BTW..... MY UNCLE IS STILL A CASTRO PRISONER, and my mom suffers everyday! But even she "a non-marlins fan" believes it was as stupid as I think it is. So, find some other defense, and thanks! GOOO MARLINS!!

Totaly what I was thinking....

How long before the battalion of 80 year old men on life support call the Marlins communists?
