November 14, 201213 yr You know what we should do? Trade JJ, Buerhle, Reyes, Buck, and Boni to Toronto for Yunel Escobar. I do love that the Marlins have spent the last three or so years talking about how they're trying to create a more professional culture (and that played some part in firing Ozzie Guillen), then trading for a guy who's had multiple instances of immaturity.
November 14, 201213 yr I would have a firesale; everyone but Stanton/Reyes is made available. Make the '13 season a tryout for '14 because we're going nowhere in '13. No big moves. If we want to improve the team in '13, I hope they're 1-year, stopgap deals. Wow. Excellent job.
November 14, 201213 yr If someone told me in April that we can go from this: C: Buck 1B: Sanchez 2B: Infante SS: Reyes 3B: Ramirez LF: Morrison CF: Bonifacio RF: Stanton Rotation 1. Johnson 2. Buerhle 3. Nolasco 4. Sanchez 5. Zambrano CL- Bell To this: C: Mike Napoli / Rob Brantly 1B: Logan Morrison 2B: Marco Scutoro SS: Stephen Drew 3B: Kevin Youkilis LF: Josh Hamilton CF: Justin Upton RF: Giancarlo Stanton Rotation 1. Greinke 2. Haren 3. Lohse 4. Turner 5. Evoldi CL- Rafael Soriano Bullpen- Soria, Madsden, Broxton I'd take it!

November 14, 201213 yr Author I'm not going to laugh at any trade/FA signing proposal ever again. Dream big, Piazza31. Dream big. This thread has a habit of turning into reality.
November 14, 201213 yr Getting Josh Hamilton would be a very Loria-thing to do...and a bad contract just waiting to happen.
November 14, 201213 yr Heath Bell we miss you! You represented so much to us! Your contract is soon to be the size of this teams payroll once that sh*thead Nolsaco is gone!
November 14, 201213 yr Getting Josh Hamilton would be a very Loria-thing to do...and a bad contract just waiting to happen. 2013: $1 2014: $2 2015: $4 2016: $50,000,000 2017: $55,000,000 etc. but he'll be gone by May 2013
November 15, 201213 yr LoMo, Nolasco, Escobar to Arizona for Upton. Keep Upton or trade him for whatever Texas offered. I wouldn't mind a team of Uptons and Stanton next year, considering where we are today.
November 19, 201213 yr I was thinking about this in the shower earlier. That's where I do my thinking, yes. We desperately need power and pitching at this point. So: Sign Youkilis to play 3B. We would have plenty for say, a 1 or 2 year deal from all the money we saved after this trade. Sign a mid-level 4th outfielder to be, just that: a fourth outfielder. I do not want Gorkys and Petersen anywhere near the Miami dugout. Sign/trade for at least two solid SP. Don't break the bank on guys like Greinke/Haren (or if they do, they should only sign one) and get some mid-level guys who can eat innings and throw strikes. Like I said, not necessarily all stars, but we desperately need pitching depth. Maaaaaybe sign a lefty PH to a minors deal or something. I really don't know how much longer we will see this "PH specialist Dobbs." Those are the only major moves I could decide on. If we did that our roster might look something like this: C- Brantly/Mathis 1B- LoMo 2B- Hechevarria 3B- Youkilis SS- Escobar LF- Pierre CF- Ruggiano RF- Stanton BN- Mathis/Brantly BN- Kouzmanoff BN- Solano BN- Dobbs BN- 4th OF (Not Gorkys or Petersen) SP- Someone from trade/FA (Not Nolasco) SP- Someone from trade/FA (Not Nolasco) SP- Nolasco SP- Turner SP- Eovaldi/Alvarez (maybe Eovaldi to bullpen?) See, if we did that we wouldn't have to force Escobar over to 3rd like we did with Hanley, and Hechevarria has played 2B in the big leagues. If we took this approach we would have at least a couple bats to protect Stanton, namely Kouz and Youk. If LoMo can stay healthy he could hit 20 HR as well.
November 19, 201213 yr I had a weird dream that we traded Stanton for harper + bp arm. You shut your mouth. You shut your f***ing mouth right NOW!
November 21, 201213 yr that would be pretty funny though since Harper tweeted an invite to Stanton to come to the Nats
November 22, 201213 yr This is the way I envision it as it stands right now. Of course a signing here or there and another trade and everything could change. I'm still hoping that they can trade Nolasco although at this point I doubt it. I'm also hoping that Escobar stays at least for 13' and he can drive up his value. Especially with a friendly contract. Here goes. Starting pitchers: Ricky Nolasco Jacob Turner Nathan Eovaldi Hendrson Alvarez Wade Leblanc Bullpen: Steven Cishek A J Ramos Ryan Webb Chris Hatcher Alex Sanabia Mike Dunn Dan Jennings OF: Mike Stanton RF Justin Ruggiano CF Kyle Jensen LF IF: Logan Morrison 1b Donovan Solano 2b Eideny Echevarria SS Yunel Escobar 3b Robb Brantley C Bench: Chris Coghlan OF Jeff Mathis C Juan Pierre OF Gregg Dobbs IF Nick Green IF I know that I am probably in the minority on Jensen but I really think that he will hit in the bigs. His power potential is worthing taking a shot on. He had produced at every level in the minors until last season and he still managed to hit 24 home runs. He also had a very solid AFL season.
November 22, 201213 yr Mike Stanton RF I know that I am probably in the minority on Jensen You're also in the minority of Marlins fans that don't know it's Giancarlo Stanton now. In all seriousness, not a bad idea for the team, but I don't see Jensen starting the season in the bigs.
November 22, 201213 yr Pierre is going to start. They gave him too much money (lol) to not have him start. They already said he would get a lot of playing time in LF and leadoff. Ricky Nolasco really needs to be traded. What a waste of time it is to have him on this roster next year. Also, it's fitting that Anderson Perez and Eideny Echevarria are on the same team.

Why is it fitting?
November 22, 201213 yr Because neither one exist. Ha, I c. Like our playoff chances next year. BA ZING. Also, I very seriously doubt our bullpen will look like that^ next year. We signed a couple pitchers to minor league deals who will probably complete for pen jobs. I imagine A.J. Ramos will probably start the year in NOLA, as will one of either Jennings or Hatcher. We won't make any major deals obviously, but dudes it's still only November. A lot of stuff is going to happen to our team in the next few months.
November 22, 201213 yr LoMo, Nolasco, Escobar to Arizona for Upton. Keep Upton or trade him for whatever Texas offered. I wouldn't mind a team of Uptons and Stanton next year, considering where we are today. :lol that fits zero of that Arizona has stated they want for them to even consider moving him.
November 22, 201213 yr Author I've been thinking about this a lot and... I say that Stanton should be traded now. But only to Texas for a deal involving Olt, Profar, Gallo, and probably another decent, young bat (maybe Lewis Brinson - a Coral Springs high guy who I personally played against last year). We have the pitching for the future, no doubt. Our offense is still a big question. Just trade Stanton to a winning team where he will be protected in the lineup. Texas should be ecstatic to get Stanton after presumably losing Hamilton. Plus they already have above average Major Leaguers at the positions Olt, Profar, and Gallo play at in the form of Elvis Andrus and Adrian Beltre. The Rangers have one of the deepest farm systems in the MLB and we could replenish all of our offensive needs in one fell swoop with a deal here. We could possibly field a competitive team by 2014 and then be a force for the following years if all works out.

We would move Hechavarria to 2B and things would look good for the future. You would think that team would competitive in 2014.
