Bob Nightengale @BNightengale And just like that, the #BlueJays-#Marlins trade is official! f*** Selig. How exactly is he going to monitor this situation? As long as there's a plan to compete in the future, he isn't going to do anything. That's all this team does: plan to compete in the future. This is going to be the third season in a row where we'll finish last place.
November 19, 201213 yr Juan C. Rodriguez @JCRMarlinsbeat Beinfest: "We think we brought in championship quality talent." #marlins I just saw that. The guy is delusional.
November 19, 201213 yr And that, ladies and gentlemen, is why we are the worst managed team in baseball...

November 19, 201213 yr Maybe he means for the special olympics. Oh lord, you're going to anger a lot of people here with that one.

November 19, 201213 yr We really didn't get much in return anyways, and it's a message to Loria that while it's his franchise, it's Selig's game. I don't think anyone's questioning who the commissioner of baseball is. and boy do I wish Selig wasn't the commissioner. the biggest piece of sh*t involved in the MLB behind Loria and Samson is Selig. he allowed all this to happen. + no instant replay, an absolutely idiotic playoff structure, not overturning games/plays that should have been overturned, etc. The only good thing Selig has done is the WBC and that wasn't even his own idea.
November 19, 201213 yr Author Selig oversaw baseball through the 1994 strike, the introduction of the wild card, interleague play, and the merging of the National and American leagues under the Office of the Commissioner. He was instrumental in organizing the World Baseball Classic in 2006. Selig also introduced revenue sharing. He is credited for the financial turnaround of baseball during his tenure with a 400 percent increase in the revenue of MLB and annual record breaking attendance. Realignment of teams into three divisions per league, and the introduction of playoff wild card teams (1994) Interleague play (1997) Two additional franchises: the Arizona Diamondbacks and the Tampa Bay Devil Rays, now the Tampa Bay Rays (1998) Transfer of the Milwaukee Brewers from the American League to the National League (1998) Abolition of the American and National league offices and presidencies, and inclusion of all umpiring crews into a common pool for AL and NL games, instead of having separate pools per league (2000) Unbalanced schedule (2001)[30] Home field advantage in the World Series granted to the winner of the All Star Game in the same season (2003) Transfer of Montreal Expos franchise to Washington, D.C., becoming the Washington Nationals (2004) Dedicating April 15 as Jackie Robinson Day (2004) Stricter Major League Baseball performance-enhancing drug testing policy (2005) World Baseball Classic (2006) Introduction of instant replay in the event of a disputed home run call (2008) Introducing a second wild card playoff team in each league (2012) Requiring the Houston Astros to move to the American League (2013), as a condition of the sale of the team to Jim Crane, resulting in an odd number of teams in each league and interleague play throughout the season During Selig's terms as Executive Council Chairman (from 1992–1998) and Commissioner, new stadiums have opened in Arizona, Atlanta, Cincinnati, Cleveland, Colorado, Detroit, Houston, Milwaukee, Philadelphia, Pittsburgh, San Diego, San Francisco, Seattle, Arlington, St. Louis, Washington, D.C., New York City (Flushing, Queens and the Bronx), Minneapolis, and Miami.
November 19, 201213 yr LOL. So you are going to make Wikipedia make your point for you? In lieu of you actually constructing an argument, I think that many people would actually see those bullet points as negatives, not positives.

November 19, 201213 yr Yeah, tell me what you disagree with? For starters, the new playoff format is a complete joke.

In lieu of you actually constructing an argument, I think that many people would actually see those bullet points as negatives, not positives. Yeah, tell me what you disagree with? Everything with division alignment/playoff/season schedule structure has been gradually getting worse. His league expansion/relocation (Montreal situation, Tampa is a mess). Using ASG to determine home field advantage is dumb Retiring Jackie Robinson's number league wide is dumb when players seem to want to wear it to honor him His stance on instant replay has been terrible--he should get little credit for home runs and fair/foul when the game needs more He was blindsided by the steroid era and not hard enough on current users What am I missing?
November 19, 201213 yr Championship level talent. Yunel Escobar - might trade for something, as is he is the low end of a championship team Adeiny Hechavarria, Henderson Alvarez, Anthony DeSclafani, and Justin Nicolino could develop into very good players Jake Marisnick - probably not, but you never know Jeff Mathis - nope

He's the best prospect we got back in the trade...

Yunel Escobar - might trade for something, as is he is the low end of a championship team Adeiny Hechavarria, Henderson Alvarez, Anthony DeSclafani, and Justin Nicolino could develop into very good players Jake Marisnick - probably not, but you never know Jeff Mathis - nope Most scouts are saying that Adeiny has a terrible bat, and that he could be suited as a defensive replacement. Henderson Alvarez isn't supposed to be anything special, Anthony DeSclafani - from what I've seen - projects to be a bullpen arm. Nicolino is expected to have a ceiling of a #3 starter. Marisnick is all over the place with his projections. I hate this team.
November 19, 201213 yr the fact that we couldnt even get brett lawrie in a trade that involved jose reyes and josh johnson is f***ing pathetic. instead we get yunel escobar. and yea were a better team now. id love to hear about the promises loria and samson made to selig. "please bud let us keep our payroll at 35 million just for this year pleaseeee."
November 19, 201213 yr I wish the Marlins would dedicate one or two games this year to exchanging the Reyes jerseys that every other Marlins fan bought for one of the new players' free of charge. That'd be decent PR at least...
