Johnson, Buehrle, Reyes, Buck, Bonifacio to Toronto

Those signs are terrible lol. They should have brought the sign guy I always see on tv at the games.

In hiding.

at least you got a guy who's still on the team (for now)

Only Marlins bobblehead i own is Jose "Miami" Reyes

Samson and Loria are rats without a doubt, but that's what happens when you don't get these agreements in writing.

"@joecapMARLINS: Mark Buehrle on #marlins trade: "Just like the fans in South Florida, I was lied to on multiple occasions.""

Except he wasn't. Ownership can be blamed for a lot of things, but it's not their fault that Buehrle and his agent are apparently a couple of morons. They were there during the negotiations; if they wanted a no-trade clause, they should've gone to a team willing to give them one. The Marlins have only been clear about one thing and that's that they don't offer no-trade clauses; obviously, there's a reason for that.

Buehrle should stop crying. Enjoy Canada.

If I remember correctly no team offered him or Reyes a NTC.

Sucks for them and us fans- no FA will sign here because of the precedent this and delgados signing sets.

The marlins should soften and Atleast start allowing partial NTC's.

The best thing they did last offseason was not offer NTC's so I hope they continue with the policy.

yes - because buying away that option helps the team move the players and their inflated contracts so much easier

guys waive their NTC all the time when their current situation goes south ..... seems like it's pretty self defeating for the marlins

it will limit the players who will sign there, it ends up being compensated for in the contract and it makes the contract more difficult to move

the bigger issue is that the marlins now have a really respected veteran speaking out against them in public .... not to mention the undercurrent that stanton alluded to in respect to their operations throughout the league

they had one chance to change all of this and they blew it in epic fashion in one season ..... good job guys

I don't think that this trade will have much of an effect on free agent signings as long as the Marlins make offers that are competitive. Players for the most part go where the money is.

Agreed 100%. Baseball players are just as greedy as the rest of us. I'm going to whatever team offers me the most money, period.

Precisely

I mean, just sign a f***ing one-year lease and stop your whining, amirite?

Why do you hate children? :)

You know whose parents owned their home? Hitler.

I don't see why the threat of fire sales should have that much of an effect on free agents. Hey, if one of you was offered 6 million Dollars to move somewhere else in the country for one year, wouldn't you? I would.

Buehrle should have known better than to buy a house here in south Florida. If you are a Marlins player just get a lease for a periodic tenancy (ie. month to month) or tenancy for years (ie. 1 year lease) and you won't have to act so butt hurt when you get traded to another team before the end of the year.

Well there's the thing... if the Marlins were willing to dish out more 7 year contracts but make it clear to the players that their reward for coming here was the fat contract and that they would be traded, it would be the same thing as just keeping the players.

That is unless they backload the contracts. Which... I'm sure they do.

I dunno man, stability comes before money for a lot of these guys especially those with an established career and a family. I don't blame Buerhle for expecting to be here longer. A year ago we all thought the cheap fire selling Marlins were dead. Nobody could have seen where we'd be today.

It's a clear disadvantage. Similar offers from other teams will beat out offers from the marlins.

when you hear players say things like "people warned me about them", etc, and then now you have this....

Maybe Loria is going with all kids for the next 2 or 3 years since it'll take that long for anyone of note to sign here again anyway.

Well, next year's FA class is pretty abysmal as well, so I wouldn't be surprised.

Ha! I got a response to my one word email to Sampson. I can't wait to get home so i can post it for you guys to read. He actually attempted to make me feel sorry for him. oh i cant wait, oh i cant wait!

he responded to me as well... They must really be concerned...My original email asked for a refund on my reyes shirt. I'm not getting a refund :(

Jesse, I am sorry it has taken so long to respond to your e-mail. I personally both read and respond to every e-mail sent to me.

Over the years, I have received both positive and negative e-mails. It is certainly the nature of my position that there will be good times and bad times. I imagine that in your work and life, you experience the same. My goal has always been to save baseball in Miami, and through the ballpark, leave a legacy for generations. There is little doubt that Marlins Park is a success. I was able to personally speak with thousands of fans during the course of last season, all of who were able to articulate the reasons they enjoyed their experiences. Though we did not win a lot of games, I remained proud of the building and the knowledge that the Marlins would provide memories that would last a lifetime.

Unfortunately, last season will also be remembered by me as a great failure on the field. We learned that however exciting the off season is, games still must be played and won. If I had to do it all over again, I still believe going “all in was the right move. Trying to create excitement that would translate into victories and sell-outs was our goal. Baseball is a results business, and we accomplished neither goal.

I completely understand the anger, frustration and pain, and I truly hope all three emotions are short-term only. If we do our jobs correctly, our team will be better, will win more games, and you will once again be proud of our team. I say “our team because you really are a part of the team. We have had many ups and downs in our short history, and I wouldn’t trade that history for anything. What hurts me personally the most is that you feel I have let you down. I work hard every day trying to do the opposite. I never promised every memory would be good, but I do promise I try every day to make them good. I will keep doing this, hoping to earn your trust back.

Thank you again for the e-mail. I hope you had a good Thanksgiving. If you would like to personally speak with me, not via e-mail, please let me know.

Regards,

David

P.S. We are unable to refund your purchase. I hope you will come to realize that the moves we have made will make our team better in the long run.
