Dietrich & Stanton go yard, Turner with a decent outing, LoMo 2 doubles. Good guys win.

Lomo's new stance might turn him to Joey Votto.

Stanton is so not clutch.

I freaking hate Morrison and Stanton. I wish they would go back on the DL. Such bad attitudes.

Not that I believe in the Joey Votto thing (it makes no sense), but I've noticed he has a leg kick now.

No, in fact he has lowered his hands considerably to his chest rather than up near his shoulder. Then he cocks back and swings.

Pretty sure he's always done that.Nah, it's DEFINITELY a different stance.

Hands are lower, he's not as stiff (moving around a little). For sure different, cause I was copying his stance for BP. It's noticeable, for sure.

Stanton hurt our chances for rodon

now his hands are much lower before triggering.

Yea, LoMo has definitely made some adjustments.

Glad Stanton was able to make up for that train wreck play in right field with a nice home run.

Maybe I'm in the minority but who gives a s*** about Rodon. I'd rather have this young team play good baseball and win a few games in the process to prepare for next year. That seems more important than Rodon at this point

Also, despite the insanely small sample size, you lomo haters can eat a hot dog

apparently your sarcasm meter is turned off

Honestly, I'm fine either way we go. If we suck enough to be able to get Rodon, then great. If we turn it around and have a half-respectable season, fine by me.

Personally, I think our starting pitching will be fine, and our bullpen can be dynamite, as well, in a couple of years.

Fernandez, Turner, Heaney, Nicolino, Flynn, Alvarez, Eovaldi, DeSclafani, etc ... we've got a lot of starters, some of them can be serviceable in the bullpen - specifically Eovaldi. If he projects more as a back of the rotation starter with his stuff, I'd rather he be in the back of the bullpen, maybe as a set-up or closer, even. Nick Wittgren in the future, as well, hopefully.

Plus, whatever pitchers we just drafted this year can also be nice.

Rodon is definitely more important than a less embarrassing record. The kids should do well, but I still root against the team as a whole

I root for the team to win.

The MLB draft is a crapshoot, anyway.

Not to mention its doubtful the Marlins would take Rondon anyway. If they have the first pick they are going to reach pretty far to find a guy who will sign way below slot.

I doubt it.

You have absolutely no basis on which to say that

Well, say we improve a bit, but still end up in the top, idk, say 5 picks next year.

Firstly, like I said in a separate thread, there's no guarantee Rodon goes first - some thought Moran would go first, some thought Bryant, Appel, Gray, etc etc.

But, let's say Rodon gets drafted before we can get him. I'd like to get Aaron Nola. Bring the brothers together [i'm assuming they're brothers, both went to LSU] - currently, Aaron is 12-0 with an ERA of 1.68, an FIP of 3.61 [iDK if that's a bad thing or what, SABR guys, if you could tell me if that much of a difference is bad ...], and a really good K/BB rate [117 K to 17 BB], in 118 innings. His WHIP is 0.81, and his BAA is .187. He's a righty, but if we're not gonna get the #1 overall pick, this may be the best backup option.

I don't know why you keep making this analogy. In some years a clear favorite emerges. Other years not so much.

Moran was only thought to be taken first to save money. Appel was the consensus number 1 pick. There was talk of Gray at the end, but there's always some rumor before the draft

It's only the second time, and it's the truth, it's no guarantee. He could get injured and slide down the list, or have a subpar season next year.

But all this is speculation, anyway, this event is close to 365 days away. However, yes, right now he is most probably the favorite. However, I do like the look of Aaron Nola.
