September 27, 201312 yr I have two theories on this goofy signing: 1) Loria has lost his mind. I think we may have a board "first," everyone!
September 27, 201312 yr 5 Stages of Marlins Fandom under Loria's ownership (adapted from Kubler-Ross 5 Stages of Grief: 1. Denial. January 2013 "Glad we dumped those underachievers. We'll have a better record than in 2012 without those bums." 2. Anger. June 2013 "Why in the hell is the FO burning service time by rushing these prospects in a lost year." 3. Bargaining. July 2013 "Please, please eat the rest of Nolasco's contract so we can get some quality prospects. I promise, I'll start going back to the games if we get back some great prospects." 4. Depression. August 2013 "I cannot believe we're going to lose 100 games.... I am never going out of the house in Marlins gear ever again... 5. Acceptance. September 2013 "We signed a no-hit, no-field over the hill utility player for 1.7 million. Oh well....

Still happy about #1. #2 was stupid, I agree. #3, we weren't going to get much for Nolasco, anyway. #4 was expected. #5 is the worst.
September 27, 201312 yr Heath Bell & the Toronto deal were also taking up around 10 mil i think which is freed up next season - would normally be a good thing but not sure it'll matter. It will cost at least $10m to keep Stanton and Cishek next season... just in arb - yeah true.
September 27, 201312 yr Dobbs for less than a mill? OK. A good lefty bat off the bench who plays good defense at multiple positions is certainly a good thing, but he ain't either of those. Waltz and Hutton used to rave about Dobbs' hitting with a guy on 3B and less than 2 outs. Now, they hardly mention it, since he's sucked all year. They've reverted to the "professional at-bat" trope. I have two theories on this goofy signing: 1) Loria has lost his mind. 2) Dobbs has pictures. Any way you slice it, Dobbs appears to be the new Helms. Just be happy that he wasn't signed for two years. actually this post almost makes the Dobbs deal worth it. I guess Loria even went over ...'s head with the dobbs signing I told you ... was in the Samson camp.

Would be nice to see for 2014 how much potential free money there will be with a $37m payroll. I'll try for giggles. So far they have $8.2m committed to payroll (mathis, dobbs, turner (if option exercised) and bell). Collectively I think the arb guys (stanton, cishek, webb, lomo, dunn, ruggiano, coghlan) will be around $18m. Probably another $5m for the minimum salary guys? So that leaves roughly $6m to fill in the rest of the lineup. Terrific.
September 27, 201312 yr Ladies and Gentlemen - Your Miami Marlins!! I mean, the Juan Pierre deal ended up working out fine, right? I wonder if the extra $100k was to buy out all those high dollar incentives that Juan Pierre received
September 27, 201312 yr Ladies and Gentlemen - Your Miami Marlins!! I mean, the Juan Pierre deal ended up working out fine, right? I wonder if the extra $100k was to buy out all those high dollar incentives that Juan Pierre received Lmao I remember that. He would've had to have the greatest season in MLB history to earn an extra 750k Ah, Jeffrey, what are we going to do with you?
September 27, 201312 yr I hope all this absurdness leads to Loria being forced to sell. When MLB sees these embarrassing actions from an embarrassing franchise, don't you think they might begin to say enough is enough?
September 27, 201312 yr The first splash of free agency!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! 3B Filled!!!!!!!!1! 1B Possibly Filled!!!!!!!
September 28, 201312 yr I hope all this absurdness leads to Loria being forced to sell. When MLB sees these embarrassing actions from an embarrassing franchise, don't you think they might begin to say enough is enough? MLB didn't step in to save a proud Pirates franchise which suffered 20 ... 20 straight losing seasons. They're not stepping in for a young franchise with a horrible, notoriously flaky fan base.

Pirates haven't had three firesales in the last 20 years, either. There was nothing to "save" them from, honestly.
September 28, 201312 yr The Pirates had a case of bad management and shit luck. I don't think the examples are comparable.
September 28, 201312 yr The Pirates had a case of bad management and s*** luck. I don't think the examples are comparable. Not even close to comparable. Loria is the kind of owner that should be forced out of the game. However, I highly doubt they back him for a stadium then pull the rug out. I have a feeling we are simply stuck.
September 28, 201312 yr Loria and the Evil Emperor are buddies so until Bud Selig retires which is being reported as 2015 we are stuck with Loria without any bit of hope whatsoever of retribution from the other owners...Once Selig retires I bet it becomes open season against Loria

Are you just trolling at this point?

September 29, 201312 yr September 29th, 2013. Mystikol87 concedes an argument. Hardly a momentous occasion, but thanks, I guess? Hell, I just did the same the other day on here about Zach Cox. If you're just journaling about me, though, I'd love to see it one day!
September 29, 201312 yr Conceded. Doesn't change that your other recent posts have been quite wacky. must have me confused with someone else
