If there wasn't enough evidence already, then last night's should seal it imo. Cishek has been one of the most dominant closers in baseball and especially with our shitty ass pen this year, he is the 2nd most deserving after GCMS. I guess Peter Gammons agrees

Tonight is also evidence we could have 3 All-Stars. Henderson Alvarez is certainly deserving.

 

It wouldn't be the first time we were surprised. I believe we had 4 All-Stars one year when most believed we would have just 2.

 

Edit: yea, in 04 and 05 we were surprised with 4 All-Stars. The '04 season looks just like this season; a starter, reliever, OFer, and third

How many starters get in? The only thing Henderson is doing really well that all-star people care about is ERA which he is ranked 4th. Everything else (wins, whip, ks) he's not even top 20. If course he's like 5th or 6th in WAR, but again, all star people don't care about that.

I mean, I think he is definitely deserving and should get in right now (based on WAR mainly), but my point was that Cishek is probably more so deserving at this point.

 

While I appreciate what Hits McGehee has done this year, he is in no way an all star

1 and 2, not an issue.

3, that's not as a commissioner, and thus irrelevant.

4 is an issue, but wouldn't be if the game wasn't such a joke. Take away fan voting and let the actual deserving all-stars start the game or take it away.

5 I'll let you have, but at the same time, it brought fans back to baseball after the strike, so ... double-edged sword there.

 

I personally don't mind inter league play. I also agree with Bender on the whole steroids thing. Without BIG MAC, SAMMY SOSA, and BARRY BONDS chasing those HR records it would have taken baseball much longer to come back from the strike if at all.

 

Also, while I am not a Selig fan or apologist, you have to give him some credit for the Wild Card (not our MB.com Wild Card) and the World Baseball Classic. I think both of those things have brought a lot of excitement to the game.

 

I do however agree with you that he has let the likes of Loria do whatever the hell he wants as a baseball owner and that has been bad for both the Marlins and the game. Keep in mind though that Selig works for the owners so I don't think much will change with a new commissioner either.

 

Now if only we could record Loria making some racial slurs? Piazza as the MB.com racist I think it should be your job to catch Loria on tape! Sit near him at the stadium and give him your hustle theory and see if he goes along.

There is absolutely no chance that Todd Frazier DOESN'T make the team, and there's no doubt that Anthony Rendon, when you factor both offense AND defense, deserves the nod over McGehee.

Agreed with this! Stanton will definitely make it and I'm really hoping Alvarez makes it. Only way McGehee will go is if someone ends up being injured.

I really hope David Wright over takes Ramirez- I can see wright using the AS break to recover and sit out the game. That would open up a lot of chances for the other 3B who deserve to go.
