They have to rebuild the farm system at some point though, and they can't do that by keeping all the productive players. Not necessarily. We have been buyers recently, trying to get over the hump by adding negatives (Chen, Cashner, Tazawa, Rodney etc). The obvious option would be to deal Ozuna, however I just don't feel comfortable dealing a 26 year old AS caliber OFer unless the haul is clearly worth it. I think it goes without saying, if you get a great deal you take it. That goes for anyone on the roster. However I think trading Ozuna for the fact of rebuilding the farm system would be a $1 for $1 proposition at best. It's not like we have anyone ready to take over in LF anyway. If you want to "blow it up", trade Ramos, Claw, Urena, Hech, TK, Phelps. But keep the OF the way it is.

Thats true about Bour, unless he maintains his current production I dont think he'll get as much as we think but he's not untouchable if we get decent value. To expand on why I picked those 3 guys: JT- 4 more years of control and offensively gifted C's are very hard to come by, will still be in his prime when we're hopefully ready to compete Yelich- 5 more years of cheap club control (I believe), all around gifted player that could easily still be great in 10 years, also you wouldnt be selling him at his highest Stanton- an elite player when he's producing, the contract would hurt his trade value, and honestly paying ~25 mil for his production is not bad value and will be nothing in 5 years If we're able to draft well for the next 3 years and get good value for Bour, Gordon, Ozuna, Ramos, Straily, Barraclough, Phelps then I think we can compete sooner than some think.
June 4, 20179 yr No reason to blow this team up. The offense is one of the best in the majors. The bullpen is coming around to the way it should have been producing to begin with. The defense is also very good. Coming into the season the major concern was the rotation. That is still the case. They weren't aggressive in trying to upgrade for whateve reason and it bit the team in the ass. To be fair though, with as bad as I thought the rotation was going to be, I never envisioned how poorly both Koehler and Conley would be. On top of that, Chen is lost for the season. Also, this core is young and affordable with the exception of Stanton. There is no rush to rebuild the farm system over night. We still have time to replenish through the draft while still giving this core more time to succeed. Just find some damn starting pitching!

I did acknowledge that Chen getting hurt and Koehler and Conley sucking this bad was unexpected. However, Ivan Nova was the guy to go get. Instead of wasting time and effort on Super relievers they should have focussed more on SP. Locke was just a depth type of move. That's why I used the word aggressive because I felt they should have been more aggressive with trades. I did not mean to infer that they sat on their hands. With that said, the Straily deal is looking really good. I have been pleasantly surprised by his performance.

They are still bottom half in runs scored last I checked. I'm not going to get too enamored by the current hot streak. Realistically they will be sellers at the deadline. I just hope the front office doesn't turn down any good deals if the team is still hovering under .500 at the deadline in some unrealistic attempt at a playoff run. The Marlins don't even have tradeable assets in the minors to acquire pieces for a playoff run, even if they managed to miraculously position themselves for one.

Get Charlie Hough out of the nursing home and get him a jersey. Find Bobby Witt, Brian Meadows, and Kirt Ojala with the help of the side of a milk carton and put them in the rotation. Finally, call Tom Koehler and tell him his services are not needed.
