I was against many of the initial ideas for changes because most were just "ugh that's ugly let's change it" for the sake of changing it... now, if they do these things relatively close together they have actual reasons for doing these changes and that is a good thing.

Yeah the lime walls were fine with the previous identity. They would stand out to much with the new low and really are a sign of the previous ownership.

I really like those, I definitely like the way the fish creates the negative space for form a ball with the stitching.

I've got issues with it. 

 

The fish and the ball look great and are a subtle throwback to the original primary logo.

 

But the lettering in Miami is weird. The letters are disjointed. They look like separate letters connected instead of one flowing script. It's bad cursive. Rmcs letters were better.

 

And, a minor thing, but all the darkness is troubling. I like it on the cap logo but I'd have colored the Miami blue on the wordmark. We've got great colors I'm afraid they wont use them enough.

 

Also those images make the accent color look red orange instead of pink again. Not sure how I feel about that.

 

Yeah, I'm worried about the darkness too, but mostly on the black unis.  On the others I"m sure it'll look just fine.

 

The script is cleaner than what I did (though, I wasn't too far off), but for me, the block, sans-serif "iami" script looks a bit off when paired with the pointy, serif M.  (For those that don't know what serif is - it's the pointy "growths" on the corners of the letters)

 

I am hoping there is just a blue and black hat. But seeing as the orange merch sold well, it wouldn't surprise me if there is a red one.

 

I could see it being in the stores, but not used anywhere else (similar to how we currently have blue and yellow hats for sale, but they're never used by the team).

 

Another thing to consider is that a script marlins could be used on both Home and Road jerseys like the cardinals.  That script when applied to a longer word like marlins and perhaps in blue would have a different impact 

 

I think there will be a "Marlins" home jersey that will be the primary.

 

I’m curious also if we will get some Stadium renovation announcements with the logo reveal. Would be a good time to announce if they plan on changing the walls or doing some painting and what not. I’m wondering if they will keep the colored sections around the lower bowl since it doesn’t really jive with the new look.

 

I don't see any way that the lime walls stay.  In fact, with this rebrand, I'd be disappointed if they didn't switch them to the ocean blue.

 

As for the colored sections - those never matched any of the team colors anyway, and represented different sections of the park......blue was home plate, red the third baseline, green the outfield, and yellow the first baseline.  I love how they transition too, especially on the concourse with the colored floors that add the next color as you go out.  Changing those would mean changing the tiles around the field, the concession stands, and the floors in the entire park, I see those staying as-is, and I have no problem with that.

Damn  you're right.  Now I am obsessed with it.  The leaked logo tells the whole story though.  It seems they're going with that.  The Cardinals script has a little tail on the a after the capital C but they don't connect.

 

 

Driving in to work today, saw what I feel are the colors of the new logo in the sunrise and on the buildings behind the ballpark. Drving i-95 when I took these, not entirely sure if you can see what I'm talking about. I'm digging the Black on Black more and more.

 

Some of the buildings behind the Ballpark are lit up with Purple and pink lights, and some with a weird shade of blue that looks similar to the new logo.

Initially yeah but it works and looks better IMO than if you color the fish blue.

 

 

That fish with those details without any changes "must" be black and it must be applied to specific backgrounds for it to work. 

 

 

Marlins have to knock this rebrand thing out of the park.  I’m cautiously optimistic. 

 

Especially after Inter Miami nailed it with their crest.

It looks really good when you introduce all the blue.  Especially with the white circle. Like someone else said, a paneled cap would look good.
