Woohoo! More losses!

(And wins, hopefully more wins than losses)

Please go get Urena to be the opening day starter. Just for the ceremonial "first pitch" as it'll be one and done. This will make up for most of the offseason disappointment I'm expecting.

Will Ronnie be back by then though? (And honestly I hope the HBP stuff just ... stops.)

MLB just can't wait for the newest Marlins and Acuna drama to come.

I could be wrong here, but isn't it very unorthodox to open the season with a four-game series?

The fix is in!

2022 is a do or die season, why ?

a. it's the fifth year of the rebuilding

b. the team got the money and the farm

c. NL East is really weak now

d. new regime needs to prove themselves to the fans

It isn't anymore.

They will pump this "do or die season" BS out so that when they are terrible  next year they can fire Don and buy themselves another year.

How many teams in the history the MLB have gone from last in their division to a playoff contender?

Curb your expectations.

2020 Miami Marlins, I know it doesn't count …

Any chance we can maybe figure out a night where we all meet up in person and have a good laugh? Its been 20 fuckin years, I think its time we yell at each other in person about statistics, salaries, the PROCESS **** come at me bro**** and how Jeter sucks.

Maybe in 2023!

Looks like they killed the tradition of Miami @ Atl for 4th of July series.  Kinda sucks - I've gone to a ton of those, including the Sunday collapse this year.

Brewers series last of year? Agghhh

Hell yeah, Angels and Dodgers on the road so I get more chances to see Don Mattingly manage in person!

agree 100%. 2022 we cannot still be 65-70 wins. Jeter & Ng need to be moved out by Sherman, and replaced by maybe some Rays execs ?

100% agree here.

The thing about this thought is -

1) Jeter is a part owner, and is Jeter - it'd be difficult to "move him out", unless/until he wants to move on himself.

And

2) with Ng just hired last offseason, I don't think a) that it's fair to only give her one/two offseasons, and b) would be TERRIBLE optics for a franchise that has already had enough of that in its history.......and you know the press is chomping at the bit to write a negative story about the Marlins lol.

Some of the moves/lack of moves by this FO this season have been inexplicable to me - so hopefully some of that is just Ng learning on the job and we're stuck watching - hopefully she's learned what not to do this season and will be better after the season/into next.

I do like the Rays execs idea, though, should we ever move on from Ng.

I think Jeter is under a 5 year contract as CEO....Sherman just might not renew his contract. He's still a minority owner, but with only a 5% stake in the team, should be a very silent partner...but if his contract as CEO is not renewed I think he'd part with his 5% share pretty quickly

Should I believe this team is trying to lose now to try to compete next season ? how about call up Edward Cabrera to make the game a little more watchable.

That's fair.  I'd still be shocked if that happens, though.

I believe Jeter was bought this team to show baseball world he can salvage a mlb franchise, so I believe he would at least continue to be the 5% (or more) owner until this team made it to the playoffs (2020 doesn't count) or even won the world series.

I think it's simpler than that - he wanted to (part) own a franchise and the Marlins were available.

Your point may still be correct, but secondary to just being an owner.
