Let's temper expectations. I'd be happy with 82 wins.

(Although if that gets us 3rd WC then leggo)

+1 run differential with effectively 2 full position players doing absolutely nothing due to SSS BABIP fluctuations. Basically, 211 PA of Rojas, Garcia, Aguilar, Soler, and Stallings playing at a combined .210 BABIP (LOL), compared against 143 PA of overachieving by Jazz(SLUG only), and high BABIPS for Sanchez, DLC, Berti, and Anderson. It basically averages out to 2 full time starters doing absolutely nothing once we subtract the over achieving group from the five mega under achievers. They are actually really lucky Sanchez/BA/DLC in particular are having all the hits drop right now.

Big gains will come when that averages out and the broken record continues - trade for Laureano/CF and this starts looking pretty good as you then on top of the gains coming (as well as Floro and Meyer eventually at minimum), basically upgrade all of DLC's PA (the BABIP drop is coming hard for his fans on this board), most of Bertis (as BA, Wendle, and Rojas can shift around), and some of Aguilar/Cooper (as they were always just OK and their time can be cut into for an upgrade).

So when we're projecting the good news, pretty good news is coming from the numbers. Maybe not all the way to contending, hence, for us to take them seriously it's time to plant the flag and get the obvious position of need. Oakland is playing pretty well so hopefully they crater (they will) next few weeks and look to shed payroll.

Another idea just popped in my head - if the Marlins refuse to move the core 4 guys (Watson, Eury, Meyer, Cabrera... which I don't necessarily disagree with unless we're talkig Reynolds) - Oakland is cheap AF and they have $8.5 million (not pro-rated for ROS) stuck with Piscotty this year. Take on Piscotty's contract in full, immediately DFA him, and effectively Ramon Laureano is a ..... 3/$24 player(!!!). I mean we'd do backflips at this price if they did that in free agency. I think a 4-2 for Laureano and Piscotty (sheds $10m+ for Oakland this year) for..... Sixto/Eder/Fulton, Bleday/Burdick, Salas/Lewis/Morisette, and DLC (not needed anymore at all) is a pretty attractive package for them. There is some pretty legitimate upside there for Oakland. Get the CF also so I can stop doing this.

If we're going to take on money, why overpay still with prospects? I know it's not Dodgers taking on David Price level money, but still. Especially if the plan is to just DFA Piscotty anyways? And yes I know Laureano is good, but again, if we're taking all the money, we shouldn't have to pay that much on prospects.
