This is his last season before FA.  Cost might not be as high as it was last year.  That said, do we even want to part with any of our top prospects (I know there aren't many) for 1 season of Soto?  If he were the missing link to  championship,  I'd say yes.  I don't think we're 1 piece away. Especially with Sandy out next year.

So not quite a million things ... but the extension isn't numero uno. However, definitely get it done before Spring Training.

Catcher - Banfield and Fortes

Shortstop - Dane Meyers (an experiment I would love to see) and Berti and Nunez

Front and back of rotation - Luzardo, Eury, Garret, Cabrera, Rogers?, Hoeing, Soriano, Weathers? (still experiment), Smeltzer?, fillers

Arraez extension - not a priority we need to worry about more important things like signing Maldanado to long term deal (joke)

Corner outfield - DLC and Sanchez and maybe sign someone, Jung Hoo Lee? Renfroe isnt much of an upgrade over DLC if at all, another Avi signing waiting to happen. At least DLC and Sanchez are still improving, maybe Dane Meyers as another option and Berti and Davis as reserves. they aren't going to sign Bellinger and everyone else they could possible sign (Renfroe? another Avi?) or bring up won't do much better than DLC and Sanchez.

Nah, not worth it for what he'll cost for a single season......though if he produces as usual, we'd be able to get plenty at the deadline to recoup what we sent out, but is that worth it?

Who exactly are the top prospects we'd be hesitant to part with for Soto? (Since as someone pointed out he could be moved again at the deadline if we were floundering)

Of course i would like them to do something but they won't so what is the whole 'million things they are doing'? Of course i would like them to sign Ohtani, sign Bellinger, sign Snell, sign as many players from Japanese WBC team that they can, sign Soler, trade Avi for Soto, sign and trade Stallings for Realmuto, trade DLC for Acuna, trade Bell for Matt Olson, but it wont happen. So unless they were talking to Ohtani or Snell, what could possibly be important than signing Arraez? Is Maldonado going to turn the team around. He's worse than Stallings.
